Ok. I've been going back and forth on this for some months now. I'm cutting my hair.
I want to donate it to Locks of Love.I understand that natural blonde hair is the most expensive to buy,so I figure some kid could use it instead of it getting thrown away.

I want to know if anyone knows of a salon that participates in the program.Otherwise I'll need to start calling around. It doesn't matter if it's in Hagerstown or here in martinsburg.

Also, I want to go SHORT. I'm thinking of above the ears and alittle longer on top than the back and sides. Now,I'm not big on celebreties,so if you guys know any of them with short hair and could post some pics,I'd appreciate it.I need some ideas and I don't want to waste my time sitting in the salon looking in those books! rolleyes.gif

Thanks guys! wub.gif

What an awesome thing to do WVDragonlady! My friend donated her hair when she cut it, but did it in Harrisburg.

According to the Locks of Love website, you can get it cut here:

Les Cheveux Studio LLC
101 Medical Ct. Ste 206
Martinsburg, WV
(304) 596-2450

Also, here are a few websites that allow you to shop for different hair styles:

http://www.hair-styles.org/
http://www.1001-hairstyles.com/
http://www.hairfinder.com/

Hope this helps! Post a link to one you might like! biggrin.gif

Personally, I'd either go with the 2nd or 3rd haircut. The first one isn't a very feminine cut. Women can have really short hair, and depending on how it's cut, it can look really nice, or it can make them look very boyish. I guess it's all dependent on the whole package too.

I don't know if I like the 2nd or 3rd one better - tough choice.... although I think I'm leaning towards the 2nd one. biggrin.gif

For some reason I can't see those images.

The image “http://www.herald-mail.com/forums/index.php?act=Attach&type=post&id=34” cannot be displayed, because it contains errors.
peacefrog
I'm like the third one.

Maybe you could color your hair, too! biggrin.gif

I'm growing mine for locks of love, too. How long is yours?

Mine is long enough, but if I cut it off the required 10" then what I'd have left would only be shoulder length... and DH wouldn't like that! So I need to grow it another 3-4 inches yet.
WVDragonlady
It's done! biggrin.gif I went this morning and had it cut.Went to Les Cheveux here in Mart.
Ponytail was 13in. long! It felt like a weight was lifted went she cut it off!I went with #3 sort of. It's more versatile. i can spike it or slick it back or part it on either side, etc.

Thanks for all the help guys! wub.gif biggrin.gif

You'll probably feel weird the next couple of times you shampoo it! You'll be reaching for hair that's not there! biggrin.gif

Pet. Peeve. blink.gif

Cut your hair for god sakes! It'll grow back and he'll get over it!

Sorry. It's truly a pet peeve. I can't stand to hear women say that.

It also bugs me when someone, man or woman, has reeeally long hair and they treat it like it's spun gold when in fact it's full of split ends and looks stringy and goofy. If it's healthy, nice, but normally people with really long hair fluff it out and put products in it to give the heavy stuff more body when it only makes it worse giving it that 80s puffed out look. Ick.

Not that I have great hair. I certainly have my own issues.

But asian hair is the best to have long. It's usually glossy and silky.

I'm going to shut up now. ph34r.gif

If I don't put product in my hair, that's the look I'll get. I have natural curl in my hair, but not the desired kind that curls throughout. If I don't straighten my hair, it looks like I'm growing out an old perm - straight on the top half and curly on the bottom, with an ample amount of frizz in between. And forget it on humid days, looks like I stuck my finger in a socket. blink.gif

There's no way you look like a little boy Heather! You're way too feminine to look like a boy. Besides, the hair cut you have now compliments the shape of your face. I think it was a good choice. wink.gif
peacefrog
Actually, DH is right about this one. I look best with long hair. I've tried on short wigs and fake bangs (sounds stupid, doesn't it? LOL) and short hair does not work for me. My face is too round... long hair helps balance it out. Otherise, I look like there's a pumpkin sitting on my shoulders.

Unfortunately, I do not have the sleek, glossy hair that so many Asian women seem to have. I got screwed in that gene department.

And I am lousy about maintaining it. Although I do good with "at home" maintenance (regular conditioning, plus regular avocado treatments)... I typically only get it cut about twice a year out of sheer laziness.

I have split ends most of the time. sad.gif

I juss got mine cut and hi-lited today. Hadn't been done since April ohmy.gif , so I looked all stringy and tie-dyed. I keep it cut between chin and shoulder so it's easy to manage, since I have zero talent with hair....wash, comb, and out the door. In the winter, I use the hair-dryer in my car on the way to work....you know, fan blowing as hard through the vents as possible! laugh.gif When it was longer, I fell into the ponytail trap, and it was always pulled back. Now at least I don't have to do much to it, but it looks better than a ponytail.

Yes, just like that. biggrin.gif

You have not seen me without makeup, Phish. And I have anything to do with it, you never will! Thanks for the compliment though. I like my haircut. Most people don't. Especially the boys. tongue.gif on them. The color has faded out though. Used to be dark brown. Liked it better that way. dry.gif

I hate you people that don't have to wear makeup! mad.gif

Just kidding. I'm jealous, not hateful. smile.gif

Ya know peacefrog, you'd might look good with what they call the "Asian Bob".It's real short and layered in the back and as it comes forward it gets longer till it hits about mid cheek, which apparently helps slim the roundness.( I read that on one of those links from up top wink.gif ).
I just got tired of all the hair and having to put it up or wear braids all the time.I might keep it short for a few years and then probably grow it out for 5 and then donate again. Thats what I did this last time.It was short from 99 -00, and then I grew it out for 5yrs and it was LONG! It seems to grow fast for some reason.
I've only seen your hair heather in the bo-peep pic and it was covered wasn't it?Sides, you're petit and can get away with a "little boy cut".It won't make ya look too butch.
WVDragonlady
he,he.hubby doesn't know that it's been cut yet. he knew I was going to do it but just not today! laugh.gif gotta keep em guessing ya know! wink.gif can't let the fellas get bored. tongue.gif

I liked pic #3 the best!
I chopped my hair & donated 11 inches to Locks of Love in 2002. I would love to donate again sometime but I dunno if I could handle having hair that long again. I have very thick naturally curly hair tongue.gif

I totally agree...
My Mom kept her hair around the same length & style for years. She always talked of getting it cut shorter but made the comment that Dad would freak. She recently got it cut short & everyone has commented on how well the cut suits her. Dad got over it and Mom couldn't be happier wink.gif

huh.gif What's wrong with a partner (of either sex) showing consideration for the hair preferences of their significant other? I've done it. It ain't no big thing -- is it?
PHISH
I don't think there's anything wrong with showing consideration, as long as you like it as well. But if a woman (or man) really wants to cut their hair, but won't because of a significant other, well, that's just silliness. The significant other should love you, no matter what, haircut and all. smile.gif
