Here's one to remember
Now I've been happy lately, thinking about the good things to come
And I believe it could be, something good has begun
Oh I've been smiling lately, dreaming about the world as one
And I believe it could be, some day it's going to come
Cause out on the edge of darkness, there rides a peace train
Oh peace train take this country, come take me home again
Now I've been smiling lately, thinking about the good things to come
And I believe it could be, something good has begun
Oh peace train sounding louder
Glide on the peace train
Come on now peace train
Yes, peace train holy roller
Everyone jump upon the peace train
Come on now peace train
Get your bags together, go bring your good friends too
Cause it's getting nearer, it soon will be with you
Now come and join the living, it's not so far from you
And it's getting nearer, soon it will all be true
Now I've been crying lately, thinking about the world as it is
Why must we go on hating, why can't we live in bliss
Cause out on the edge of darkness, there rides a peace train
Oh peace train take this country, come take me home again

"Tea for the Tillerman" is still one of my favorite albums... I love every song on it... but this is my
all time favorite Cat Stevens song.
If I make a mark in time, I can't say the mark is mine.
I'm only the underline of the Word.
Yes, I'm like him, just like you, I can't tell you what to do.
Like everybody else I'm searching thru what I've heard.
Whoa, Where do you go? When you don't want no one to know?
Who told tomorrow Tuesday's dead
Oh preacher won't you paint my dream, won't you show me where you've been
Show me what I haven't seen to ease my mind.
Cause I will learn to understand, if I have a helping hand.
I wouldn't make another demand all my life.
Whoa, Where do you go? When you don't want no one to know?
Who told tomorrow Tuesday's dead
What's my sex, what's my name, all in all it's all the same.
Everybody plays a different game, that is all.
Now, man may live, man may die searching for the question why.
But if he tries to rule the sky he must fall.
Whoa, Where do you go? When you don't want no one to know?
Who told tomorrow Tuesday's dead
Now every second on the nose, the humdrum of the city grows.
reaching out beyond the throes of our time.
We must try to shake it down. Do our best to break the ground.
Try to turn the world around one more time.
Yeah, we must try to shake it down do our best to break the ground
Try to turn the world around one more time
Whoa, Where do you go? When you don't want no one to know?
Who told tomorrow Tuesday's dead

Oh wow! Seeing Cat in video brings back alot of memories. I love that song too!! I had the biggest crush on him. He's so cute!
Whatever happened to him? Was he the one that became a Buddhist monk? Or something like that? Is he still singing at all?
I really remember liking the Commordores for slow dancing. Always loved Lionel! "Girl, tell me only this. That I have your love, for always. And, I want you by my side, whispering the words, 'I'll always love you"...... ::swoon:: sigh. I was big on soul music. At least that's what we called in way back then! Al Green too. ... "I'm so in love with you. Whatever you want me to, I will dooooooooo. You make me feel so brand new. I want to spend my whole life with you.......Yeah, let's stay together.... ( I'm dancing already! where's the hubby??) !!
But another all time favorite was "Do you wanna dance" by Melissa Manchester. I still LOVE that song. So romantic.

Ok, so the memory's not so good when in comes to getting the lyrics right! Here's how Al sings it!
I'm, I'm so in love with you
Whatever you want to do
Is alright with me
'Cause you make me feel, so brand new
And I want to spend my life with you
Me sayin' since, baby, since we've been together
Ooo, loving you forever
Is what I need
Let me, be the one you come running to
I'll never be untrue
Ooo baby
Let's, let's stay together
Loving you whether, whether
Times are good or bad, happy or sad
Oooo oooo ooo ooo, yeah
Whether times are good or bad, happy or sad
Why somebody, why people break up
Oh, and turn around and make up
I just can't seeeeeeeee
You'd never do that to me
(Would you baby)
'Cause being around you is all I see
It's why I want us to
Let's, let's stay together
Loving you whether, whether
Times are good or bad, happy or sad
Let's, let's stay together
Loving you whether, whether

TRY THIS HISTORY LESSON
Who sang this first? I always wana try and Karoke this. I do Crazy(written by wille nelson) quite often
Busted flat in Baton Rouge, waitin' fer a train
When I's feeling nearly faded as my jeans
Bobby thumbed a diesel down, just before it rained
And rode us all the way to New Orleans
I pulled my harpoon out of my dirty red bandana
I's playing soft while Bobby sung the blues, n-yeah
Windshield wipers slapping time I's, holding Bobby's hand in mine
We sang every song that driver knew
Freedom's just another word for nothing left to loose
Nothing, I mean nothing honey if it ain't free, no no
Yeah feeling good was easy Lord when he sang the blues
You know feeling good was good enough for me
Good enough for me and my Bobby McGee.
From Kentucky coal mine to the California sun
Yeah Bobby shared the secrets of my soul
Through all kinds of weather, through everything we done
Yeah Bobby baby kept me from the cold world
One day a near Selina Lord, I let him slip away
He's lookin' for that home, and I hope he finds it
But I'd trade all of my tomorrows for one single yesterday
To be holdin' Bobby's body next to mine
Freedom's just another word for nothing left to loose
Nothing, and that's all that Bobby left me, yeah
But feeling good was easy Lord when he sang the blues
Hey feeling good was good enough for me, hmm-mm
Good enough for me and Bobby McGee.
La da la la la, la da la la la da la
La da da la la la Bobby McGee yeah
La da la la la, la da la la la da la
La da da la la la Bobby McGee yeah
La da la la la, la da la la la da la
La da da la la la Bobby McGee yeah
Lo lo lo lo lo lo lo lo lo lo lo lo
Lo lo lo lo lo lo lo lo lo lo lo lo
Lo lo lo lo lo lo Bobby McGee
Lo lo lo lo lo lo Bobby McGee
Lord I called him my lover, I called him my man
I said called him my lover just the best I can and c'mon
And and a Bobby oh, and a Bobby McGee yeah
Lo lo lo lo lo lo lo lo lo lo lo lo
Hey hey hey Bobby McGee, lord.
La da la la la, la da la la la la la
Hey hey hey Bobby McGee yeah

THE HOLLY AND THE IVY IIIThe Holly and the Ivy
When they are both full grown
Of all the trees that are in the wood
The Holly bears the crownOh, the rising of the Sun and the running of the deer
The turning of the winter season
Sweet singing all may hear. The Holly bears a berry
As red as any blood
And the ivy grows upon the rock
Evergreen throughout the wood.Oh, the rising of the Sun and the running of the deer
The hand upon the harpstring
Sweet singing in the choirThe Holly bears a blossom
White as the lily's flower
And the Goddess bears the Sun again
To bring us strength and powerOh, the rising of the Sun and the running of the deer
The playing of the merry pipes
Sweet singing in the shireThe Holly bears a prickle
As sharp as any thorn
And the Goddess in her ivy gown
Greets the winter sun each mornOh, the rising of the Sun and the running of the deer
The playing of the merry organ
Sweet singing in the choirThe Holly ever bears a bark
Bitter as any gall
And the ivy weaves within our lives
Like the Goddess in us allOh, the rising of the Sun and the running of the deer
The turning of the winter season
Sweet singing all may hear

Just to continue in the off-topic vein, the "X" in "Xmas" and "Xtian" is the Greek letter "Chi," which looks like our "X" and is the first letter of the Greek name for Christ, "Christos." It is a very common misconception that "Xmas" is an abbreviation designed to "take the Christ out of Christmas."
This website explains it very well:

Let it Snow!
Sammy Cahn, Jule Styne © 1945Oh, the weather outside is frightful,
But the fire is so delightful,
And since we've no place to go,
Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow.
It doesn't show signs of stopping,
And I brought some corn for popping;
The lights are turned way down low,
Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow.
When we finally say good night,
How I'll hate going out in the storm;
But if you really hold me tight,
All the way home I'll be warm.
The fire is slowly dying,
And, my dear, we're still good-bye-ing,
But as long as you love me so.
Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow.

What's Going on
(Marvin Gaye)
Woo ah, mercy mercy me
Ah things ain't what they used to be, no no
Where did all the blue skies go?
Poison is the wind that blows from the north and south and east
Woo mercy, mercy me, mercy father
Ah things ain't what they used to be, no no
Oil wasted on the ocean and upon our seas, fish full of mercury
Ah oh mercy, mercy me
Ah things ain't what they used to be, no no
Radiation under ground and in the sky
Animals and birds who live nearby are dying
Oh mercy, mercy me
Ah things ain't what they used to be
What about this overcrowded land
How much more abuse from man can she stand?
Oh, na na...
My sweet Lord... No
My Lord... My sweet Lord
