Went to a drive in in DC in 1985, around Memorial Day. The old Woodies at Friendship Station had a drive in night and played the movies on the back of the main building. They only did it twice. "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" was one of the movies. They paid Cyndi Lauper for the song but I do not recall her in the flick. I think Sarah Jessica Parker, Helen Hunt, Shannon Doherty would deny being in it. But heck I am guilty for hopping in a car w/ a group of friends, and hanging out w/ Cyndi Lauper (her music) back in 85.

Here is the song that I can not get out of my head.

smile.gif Hey checks, I thought I would share some lyrics with you. We all just wanna have fun.

Girls just wanna have fun

I come home in the morning light,
My mother says "When you gonna live your life right?"
Oh,mother,dear,
We're not the fortunate ones,
And girls,
They wanna have fu-un.
Oh,girls,
Just wanna have fun.

The phone rings in the middle of the night,
My father yells "What you gonna do with your life?"
Oh,daddy,dear,
You know you're still number one,
But girls,
They wanna have fu-un,
Oh,girls,just wanna have
That's all they really want.....
Some fun....

When the working day is done,
Oh,girls,
They wanna have fu-un,
Oh,girls,
Just wanna have fun....

Girls,
They want,
Wanna have fun.
Girls,
Wanna have fun.

Ugh, that is not enough hair bands, and what is with the ballads?!?!?!? Let's hear some ROCK!&*%&$#&

Skid row is good, though I only liked self titled album, nothing else. Sweet little sister was my favorite song of theirs.

Sebastion Bach used to be so good looking. And then he wore a "god kills fags dead" tshirt. I love the beginning of this song were he's supposed say, "they call my name," but he sings it like a boy band, "they call my nay oh aim." So gay! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sULmG7xxx68 Bounce your hair and pout for the camera baby.

If it weren't for teenage misery...we wouldn't have schnit like this.

That band was very popular in my family! laugh.gif Good lord. I did an English report on that song! We were trying to understand the meaning of "balllad." I got an A, bitches. cool.gif That was my example. Someone in my family had a license plate that said, "talk dirty." After they junked it up on their vehicle, it went in my school locker. Crap! My scanner doesn't work! I have that picture somewhere.

Oh, you're one those who just HAS to like a b-side else you're not cool. It doesn't hurt to like a popular song, Ithilian. Ok, maybe sometimes it does. ph34r.gif But not hair metal. tongue.gif

Summer rain, a pretty day after all. Reminds me of nice summers at the beach. The storms moving in and out. The sun coming back.
Happily, I will be back at the beach in August biggrin.gif .......

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s67FEby4pE8

Everytime I see the lightening
Everytime I hear the thunder
Everytime I close the window
When this happens in the summer
Oh the night is so inviting
Blows right through my heart

Chrous

Every night and every day now
Somewhere in my heart I'm always
Dancing with you in the summer rain

A little James Brown.

I've never liked country music, but the only guy I ever loved used to sing country songs to me and then, I would tease him about it but now, I realize it's the sweetest thing. He was a pretty good singer too.

I like this one because my grandma used to crank it! biggrin.gif

I always felt a little discouraged at this. If I'm drinking I give way though. Have they ever coined a term for tight pants on a man, this video begs? Camel toe my ass.

I like some Shania too, but she's mostly pop though...right?

Ithlilian is David Bowie. I'm convinced.

I wanted to post We Can Be Heroes, but I'm an 80s girl.
Ithlilian
I don't even know what a David Bowie is, that's WAY before my time, I think.

Also, are you saying David Bowie is a girl?

And if I'm rich, you can't have any of my money...

My husband says I look like David Bowie when I wake up each morning! wink.gif

I agree with the "or not"

As posted in the want to feel old thread, I'm 22. I definitely wasn't alive in 1977 smile.gif

You're missing out on some pretty great music. I was born in 76 and I stuck my nose up to a lot of music that was before my time when I was a teenager, but later I had no choice but to give in because that was a pretty great time for music. Did you even try my Ipecac suggestions? If all else fails let's go see this.

First three are ok, if they are on the radio I listen to them. More, different bands.
Ithlilian
Nope, try again. Next time, more than one band in the post biggrin.gif

That was, super. If you understand what I'm saying. Oh no, that probably just offended someone.
Udmas
Sorry, but only one band per post, that way you're not basing your opinion on only one song.

Although after you see who the band is you probably don't listen anyway.

I believe the third song is most appropriately titled for the Lead Singer "Sinner".

The third one is good, and I don't mind Black Sabbath. Dio has a good voice.

I used to be in love with Vince Neil. happy.gif
Ithlilian
I hear too much AC/DC on the radio to ever buy them, but I will listen to the major hits.

Motley Crue is great, I like their greatest hits but I don't like the new stuff, especially Saints of Los Angeles, that song is horrible.

My favorite Crue song is this:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2TuGqnbjy5s

Also: Vince Neil is not attractive to me at all...icky

biggrin.gif
Udmas
I would agree that the songs they play on the radio all the time tend to get old after a while, that's why you need the cds so you can listen to the songs that don't make on the radio.

Never really did like Motley Crue this song's alright though.

Gah. Alanis is all emotion and no music for me. I really do dislike female heavy singers. I mean, y'all can stop at Kiss Me Deadly. Last time I liked a female singer was Ann Wilson dons makeup that we all do now.

I really can't stand females in harder genres.

Let's have a man be passionate for a change.
