DH and I love to play co-op PS2 games... not the kind where you get online, but the kind where you can just use the controllers plugged into the console.

Anyway... some of our favorites have been:

Half Life

Time-Splitters 2

and we've played:

Ghost Recon

Medal of Honor Rising Sun

We like shooter games. And no, we don't have an Xbox.

Any other suggestions?

I sold my PS2 earlier this year, so I'm kinda out of touch, but:

- Ghost Recon 2 is out now, Ghost Recon 3 comes out in the first week of November.

- Twisted Metal: Black - is like a driving, shooter game

- Gauntlet Legends - is an update to the old, arcade classic Gauntlet

- a couple of the James Bond games have it (007 Nightfire and 007 Agent Under Fire), but I'm not sure how it's implemented.

- Unreal Tournament

I found this article. It lists a bunch, but I only mentioned the ones that are familiar to me. Hopefully you can access it w/o registering for the website. (If you get an ad, look at the top for a link to the article.)

Now, I know you don't want this suggestion, but please hear me out on this ph34r.gif . For the kind of gaming you and DH like to do, an xbox would fit perfectly. The three best co-op shooters of all time are made only for the Xbox: Halo, Halo 2, and Doom 3. The two Halos are worth the price of the Xbox. I've played them for hours with my nephew.

Plus, with the new Xbox coming out in November, you could probably pick a used one up for well under $100 (or I could sell you mine for dirt cheap when I get my new one wink.gif ).

Have fun!

I know... we've been holding out on buying an Xbox because we figured a) our PS2 is on it's last legs anyway, and 2) we might as well wait until the new one comes out so we can get the latest version.

November... Hmmm... Maybe I'll have to save a few bucks and buy a new Xbox. Will the new one play the old version's games?

Yes, but limited. It will require the new xbox with the hard drive and the new xbox will have to be connected to the internet. Because the new one will use a different graphics processor than the old one, it can't be straight backwards compatible for all games like with the PS2.

You will need to download a small file that will be stored on the xbox. This allows the new xbox to emulate the old one's graphics processor so the old games can be played properly. This is very little effort on the user end, but a significant effort on the developer's end. So, Microsoft has basically said it will support only the best of the old xbox games and only a few at at time, when they get the chance.

The only game they've actually said for certain that will work on the new xbox is Halo 2.
