I am going to be purchasing a Nikin Digital in the near future...
It is going to be either the D50 or the D70 SLR Digital because I will be able to use the autofocus lenses from my 8008 Nikon film camera....

From what I have read their is not a lot of difference between the two models...
The D50 is less expensive and again from what I have read Nikon made some advancements over the D70 when they developed it...

If anyone has tested either (or preferably both) of these cameras, I would really like to have your input... I am planning on purchasing the body only, with my lens collection I really can't see getting another lens...
Also would like to know how the battery life is.... I have heard it is real good...
Thanks

Not sure if you can find the info you seek on dpreview.com or not. That site helped me when I was buying my digital camera. I know it sucks when you get a camera with poor battery life.

You may also want to check Steve's Digicams:

From what I saw on his site, the battery life on the D50 is very good.

Here's some links to zdnet about the cameras.

Nikon D50

Nikon D70

I covet a digital SLR, but don't use my camera enough to justify one.

If it weren't for your collection of Nikon lenses, I'd recommend one of the Canon SLR's, a little higher rated, excellent battery life.

But I understand you can't ditch all those lenses.

I use a Canon Digital Rebel, and the thing takes incredible pictures. On ZDNet it only got a 5.9 rating, but still works great. I am currently saving to get a Canon 20D (8.4 Rating)

Canon 20D DSLR

You will have so much fun with a DSLR. I have a 4Gb card in mine and I can take as many pics as I want. It is great.

Thanks,

Thomas
