Former Teacher faces sex charges

I remember when this happened. I was in this teachers class. I guess there is no statue of limitations on sex crimes in Maryland? Seems like a long time to bring charges.

Sounds like there could be something there -- there was an internal school investigation, the guy "resigned", multiple victims tell the same kinda story, and the guy has made no statements of his innocense - at least that the paper reported . (Someone accuses me of rape and I'm gonna be telling anyone that will listen that I didn't do it, long and loud.) And after a long investigation the police and prosecutors feel there is a case. JMO.

If he's guilty I hope he gets much more than a slap on the wrist!

But why did it take 10+ years to make an arrest?

Today the got a janitor from Williamsport for having sex with a 15 year old student. I'm starting to reconsider home schooling

Just guessing here...speculation...

Maybe the child and/or parents did not want to put the child through the further trauma and embarassment of a trial. Imagine what that would do to a 13 year old. And back then maybe there was not as much support for the victims as today. Maybe getting the treacher to resign was enough for them.

Maybe it is all made up. But my guess is that it is not.

People of that janitor's age should know that a 15 year old cannot consent to sex with an adult!

Any adult knows that even if a minor consents it is still wrong. If I were
this girls parents knowing that she said it was consensual I'd have her on the next bus to convent school. Its bad enough with a teacher but the janitor!

No question some 15-year-olds have the bodies of much older girls, and could concievably pass for much older. They're making 'em that way these days. So ya gotta be careful if you're messin' with younger females. But this guy had to know, I'd think, if he was a janitor in her school what grade she was in and that she was underage. It's not like the students there are typically over 18 and he just got fooled, huh?

At the time, pretty much everyone thought they made it up. So now that they are adults, they are believed?

Are you saying we should feel sympathy for the teacher? Maybe you would have us be thankful he found a way to get a little "bonus" for putting up with the low pay and lack of recognitiion? I don't understand what you're getting at - are you making excuses for the molester? Sympathizing with him?

Or are you saying we shouldn't expect teachers to behave themselves because we don't pay them enough or give them enough recognition? Either way this doesn't seem to make sense.

The radio this morning said that the janitor was 24. I don't know of too many 24 year old guys who think with any other body part than the one in his pants. And there are also a lot of 24 year old guys who emotionally aren't any older than 15 themselves.

And I agree with y'all that a 15 year old girl doesn't have the legal capability to consent. But I have a poisoned viewpoint because of my son's "adventures" at that age. I learned that there's a whole lot of 15 year old girls who are anxious to give it up, and they don't care to whom.

For example, the child psychologists all tell parents to stay out of the kid's room, to let it be their safe haven. Made sense to me - I didn't want him going thru my room, so why shouldn't I show him the same courtesy?

But things began happening and I began getting phone calls, so I decided to see what he was hiding in his room. Among other things, I found several pairs of Victoria's Secret panties, obviously not just removed from a package, in there. Now what kind of parent buys their daughter that kind of underwear, or conversely, what parent gives their kid an allowance big enough to afford them? Believe me, I found lots of things I had never imagined I'd find in there, and I never looked in there again. And I guarantee that girls are just as capable as boys in doing things that would shock the heck out of their parents.

It very well might be a case of a young guy preying on a young girl, or it could be what I'm betting on - 2 kids who pushed the envelope, only the guy didn't think it all the way thru, and she got scared afterwards and told her parents. Hope he had a good time, 'cause it will probably be a long time before he gets any kind of opportunity for sex again.

Give your son a big high five and just be thankful you didn't find strange boxers instead . 15 and he already appreciates fine lingire. I think he'll be OK

Sorry I'm not buying it: there's no excuse for statutory rape. Even if they're asking for it, it's wrong and illegal and anyone who does it deserves to have the book thrown at him.

If you're over 18, I say you need to take some responsbility for what you do with your penis.

Oh and I agree, there certainly are a lot of 24 year old guys who aren't any more mature than your average 15 year old. That's why we have jails: If they can't control themselves, they can, will and should pay the price.

Don't get me wrong, I agree with you on the highest level. But this world is built around excuses anymore, and lots of times those excuses get people out of trouble in the courtroom. Using this case, and example could be "Well she encouraged me". Not that long ago if a woman was raped because she had a suggestive outfit on, society said she brought it on herself. It's still the same old argument, just twisted the opposite way.

I'm telling you B, maybe your little girls are saints, but there are a whole bunch of them out there who will more than make up for what your daughters don't do. I'm not even 50 yet, and some of the stuff these young girls do these days makes me feel like a prude!

I've been roller skating a couple times in the past year or so and discovered that young girls are doing the "booty call" dance in their stocking feet in the middle of the rink.

I was stunned! Girls as young as 7 and up were dancing the steps to this tacky song waaaay better than I've seen grown women at nightclubs attempt it. They're strutting around and humping the floor and doing that dance move the simulates holding onto an ass while smacking it at the same time.

I was shaking my head and making disapproving faces when I told my friend that if that were my child, I'd be dragging her off the floor by her hair! Then my friend hushes me and tells me that the girls moms are sitting right there. The parents are watching and apparently see nothing wrong with it!

They're TRYING to make the laws tougher. They recently (couple of years ago) made it illegal in Maryland to bring up a rape victim's sexual history at trial. So at least there can be no more saying "she deserved it because everybody knows she's a slut" - which apparently you once COULD get away with using as an excuse at a rape trial.

For the record, my earlier comments in this thread were not suggesting that a girl that young could consent or that she asked for what she got. I merely meant that some girls are raised to have a better head on her shoulders than others.

You are right except prior sexual conduct with the defendant is admissible. So if she has been sleeping with the guy then he rapes her, or she claims he raped her, their past relations can be brought up in court. Even with this exception, the law seems to be a good thing for victims.

I don't have a subscription, so I can't see the name of this teacher if they mentioned it. Does anyone know it?

I ask because I knew all the middle school social studies teachers at Boonsboro.
