It's up to the judge whether you can have your banners and signs. Some judges don't want THEIR courtroom turned into a circus. Ya never know.
then the Magistrate will point that out at the beginning of the hearing.

I was at the hearing this morning.
Mr. and Mrs. Stewart were in attendance as well as who I assume was Roger's wife. It was pretty close to standing room only for the hearing.
Mr. Smith along with his attorney agreed to waive the right to a prelimanary hearing and it will go directly to circuit court. Magistrate Snow made a comment that there would be no change to the bond but it wasn't mentioned what the bond exactly was.
Mr. Smith was returned to Eastern Regional Jail.
NBC 25's Amanda Malloney was there also.
thanks to NBC25 for continuing to cover this story.

Finally. An end to the trials. I know the feeling. And I understand the parents statements. I know how they feel.
Stewart’s murderer sentenced to lifeBy EDWARD MARSHALL / Journal Staff Writer
MARTINSBURG — Describing Roger Dwayne Smith’s actions as monstrous and cruel, Berkeley County Circuit Court Judge David Sanders sentenced the man responsible for the murder of 14-year-old Miana Stewart and the attempted murder of her mother to
life in prison without the possibility of parole.

I just read that the judge added 80 years to his life sentence.
Sanders announced his sentencing terms after Miana Stewart's parents, aunt and Smith each read prepared statements.
"I will never forgive you," Miana's father, Randy Stewart, told Smith. "If I had the opportunity, I'd rip your heart out with my bare hands."
Randy Stewart described Smith's apology earlier in the hearing as a "con - just like you" and told his daughter's killer that he was one of the "monsters of our society" and that he was the "worst of the worst."
Sanders offered his own assessment of the tragedy, which he said left many broken hearts and ripped apart the fabric of the southern Berkeley County community.
"I think he really thought he committed two murders," Sanders said.
The judge also recounted Mary Stewart's apparent numbness during the mercy hearing proceedings in December and how impossible it was for him to imagine the horror Stewart felt when she lost her only child.
"This case is the most troubling, saddest case that we've ever had before us in all the years that I've been on the bench," Sanders said.
I hope these people can finally start to heal. Actually i wish her father could get this guy in a room for about 15 minutes.
This piece of crap will never see the light of day again!

Maybe the added 80 years to his sentence will stop him from getting out in 20 years...Every time I read about these pond scum people getting 'life' and then 10-12 years later you find out that they got out 'a few years ago'...and have usually killed again...
The parents will never 'heal' or 'move on'..they will just endure..I will pray for them...
