I was just wondering and I know this was a long time ago, but i will never give up on this... i'm new here first off and don't know all the rules, but I wanted to ask a question. I'm sure most of you have heard about this but three yrs. ago a women was murdered at the hedgesville post office. I am her daughter. my name is Shannon crissy and I am 19 yrs. old. Now my question and I now it's been awhile but how would I go about getting something like a memorial type thing for outside the post offce for my mother? I know it is a federal building but isn't there something I could do? I wanted opinions and suggestions before I went in and talked to anyone so I wouldn't make myself look like an A$$! Thanks for any advice! If any questions please feel free to ask me. I want my mothers story heard, but it's hard when your only 19! sad.gif

I'd start with the Postmaster for the Hedgesville post office. Get a dialogue started with the boss and go from there. Good luck.

Thank You for your responses! But what if the post master general refuses? Where should I go then? I mean it really upsets me that the only reason that they put up cameras at the post office was because of vandalizim!!! That is really stupid! I know that it's not really there fault it happened and i don't blame them. It's just that it is unproffesional to not have cameras. Anywho, I also leave cards and flowers for my mom every year at xmas, cause her birthday is christmas eve and on mothers day and on June 4th. this past mothers day someone stole the flowers I left and then monday morning they took down the card. It really upsets me since my mother is buried in baltimore! I just don't know what to do. People don't understand that I may be 19 but i am more intelligent then they think I am and they treat me as a child! I want to keep my moms memory alive and I don't know how. I spoke with a write at the Herald mail this past spring and asked her to write a story about my mom and she did. But it didn't seem to help anything! On the news there is stories about murders and such like "three years ago..." and I'm like what the crap?!?!? mad.gif I need help on this and don't know where to turn. I'm sorry to unleash all of this on everyone, but if there is any advice or if somone can assist me I would be most grateful!!! My mother was my world my she was alive and she still is even though she is not physically here... I've been through alot and I will never give up, I'm just at a dead end. Thank You all for reading this and caring. it means alot!

I'm very sorry for your loss. I can't imagine losing my mother. I'd just fall apart.

I think you should make a few appointments with a counselor or therapist. They aren't just for crazy people, you know. They'll help you work out some of that frustration and sadness. They'll help you move on.

As far as you memorializing your mother at the post office, I don't see them being very obliging. I rather see them trying to forget that someone was murdered there rather than construct something to remember her or tolerate your flowers for more than a day. I can seem them using phrases like, "we don't want to upset our customers" or "we want our grounds to exude peace and safety, not remind us of violence".

But I say you give it try, regardless. Start with the postmaster. If he/she refuses, write a letter to the editors of local papers.

Again, I'm very sorry for your loss.

Good luck.

I know that is what they are probably going to say, but i have to atleast try. I do not want someonething up close to the post office or even in the post office. Just a wooden cross type thing by the side of the road or so. I mean it's just out of repsect. I will understand if they do tell me that, but i will fight it! I can't help but not to! I feel that they should put better lighting up as well! But hey, what would I know? Thanks for the advice... sad.gif
