Full Version: Arabs nix Saddam exile plan

It seems that the Arab League put the kabosh on a last minute agreement reached to avert Iraq War 2. Saddam had accepted an exile plan to the UAE to avoid prosecution and the US readily agreed.

Why would the Arab League do this??? The war would have been avoided, the WMD search could have been completed in an orderly manner, and Bush would have had his oil ( wink.gif ). There probably would have still been insurgency problems, but without war, the UN would have shared the burden.

I guess the US wasn't dead set on military action with no other options after all?

Oh sure this news comes out now just when Bush and Co. are in trouble. rolleyes.gif

Ummm.... This is NOT news. This information WAS known at the time, and reported.

P.S. Bush hasn't yet gotten any oil for himself, and it was never about oil. Sman, I am shocked - I didn't think you were one of those ignorant fools who believed that nonsense!
SMan
Sorry, I'd never heard that the Arab League blocked an exile plan. I'd only ever heard that Saddam didn't respond or that he turned down the exile plan.

As for the oil comment, I included a winky smile for sarcasm. A poor attempt at pandering to the anti-Bush masses. laugh.gif

I recall clearly the news that the Arab League nixed the whole idea. I'm not sure I remember hearing that Saddam was willing, but I do recall hearing that the Arabs wouldn't allow it.

Idiot I'm shocked. ohmy.gif You know very well it is more than 2000 men! I expect you to have the up-to-the-hour body count like a true liberal anti-war activist should.

Don't tell me! It is oil projects that will pump money into Bush's pockets illegally.

Oops, no, that was the UN oil for food program pumping money into Saddam's pocket illegally. ohmy.gif The most corrupt program ever.

So, US death rates tell us all we need to know about the course of a war, Mr. Military Expert? rolleyes.gif And you got a "C"? Must've bribed the prof.

I'll bet that's not the only thing he did to the prof. wink.gif

As we've all seen, Saddam wasted all the time he needed playing all of these games with us before the war. He got all the time he needed to hide his WMD, and did so. You want proof? Where are the WMD that we KNEW were there at one point? He stashed 'em all while we played games with the UN.

Contrary to your mantra not everybody thought he had WMD. I can show you numerous pre-war statements from groups who disagreed.

Yeah, and I can show you statements from groups that think the Earth is flat, that think fairies dance in their graden at night, and that think there are poeple living at the center of the Earth. So?

We all know that most Dem and Rep leaders both felt sure that Saddam had WMD's - and you KNOW I can provide the quotes. But certain groups also wanted to keep kissing the butt of the grossly corrupt UN while Saddam reaped billions and had time to do whatever he wanted with the evidence of his weapons. Yeah, containment was working... rolleyes.gif

Idiot, I'm disappointed in you. I figured that would be your first post, not one at the bottom of page 2 in this thread. You're slipping, buddy. laugh.gif laugh.gif
