I found the phone number to call to "opt out" of the pre-approved credit card mailings. It's 888-567-8688. Just follow the instructions when you call. This will help reduce the amount of junk mail you get, plus save a few trees and some landfill space as well!!

Does this work for every CC company that sends these out?

I think we got like 5 or 6 of these in the mail on Monday.....

It will work for most of them. However, I still get one noe and then from organizations to which I belong. If you use their card, the organization gets a percent of your purchases or whatever. But for the most part, I get very few since I did this last fall.

You can also get rid of those annoying telemarketers by registering your phone number at http://www.donotcall.gov/ the only problem is that it doesn't take effect until October 1.
