I figured the most democratic way to take care of "Greedy Gate" would be to have a vote.

Well, Phish you seem to have a good idea, however, last I checked, you were not a Mod, so none of the Mods will pay attention anyway.
As far as the signature, all I can say is: STUPID IS AS STUPID DOES.

You don't have to be a mod to start a poll. Besides, I think the mods take forum members' opinions into consideration when making decisions. That's what they're there for, to moderate.

Another slow news day when all anyone can bi**h about is Greedy's avatars or sigs!
We had a guy on here posting garbage about NAMBLA and only a few people gave him this much grief!!!!
If you dont like or appreciate his sense of humor or taste hit the IGNORE button and you'll never have to worry about it again! some of the same people that are shocked and appalled are the first ones in line to call him an a$$hat or worse!
Censor yourselves and let the other adults be the judge of what they find offensive!

I'm not sure if you're referring to me or not, but I wasn't doing any b!tching. I just started the poll out of honest curiosity on members' opinion on the matter. I think if an overwhelming number of members found it offensive, then it would be removed. But clearly from the results thus far, it's not that big of a deal. And for what it's worth, I voted "no".

Who cares what Greedy (or anyone else for that matter) uses for an avatar. Some people need to get a life. Jessica Simpson shook that thing all summer on TV and I didn't hear anyone bitch"n" on here then.
She could walk down main st. like that and not get aressted in any town. Then it should be ok for an avatar.

FWIW, Greedy's sig is indeed offensive and sexist, and because it violates U.S. copyright law, it's criminal. The Herald-Mail's refusal to deal with it, and Heather and Webbies posts refusing to deal with it makes them personally legally liable as accessories to his criminal violation of copyright law.
Tattoomeb if you would like any help finding out how to get the FBI to investigate, please let me know. If the copyright holders at whatever site Greedy stole that piece of "art" from don't want to prosecute, we might be able to get the FBI to act against them.

Can you please provide a link showing that the avatar is indeed violating a copyright law? Most copyrights are in place to only keep persons/businesses from making money if they use them. Also maybe the sight that the pic was taken from had whats called a transferrable license to use the pic and therefor persons d/l the pic from that sight can use the pic as well. There are all types of licenses and copyright laws especially pertaining to internet usage of pics.

The number for the FBI regional office in Frederick, which would serve this area, is 301-663-3469. Next up the food chain is the Baltimore field office, whose number is 410-265-8080. Have at it. I'd love to hear their response.

As noted by one frequent poster on a film discusion board: "It is of interest to note that the new FBI revised copyright warning on digital media now includes the new clarifiying clause, "even without monetary renumeration". This has been written in to correct a rampant Internet misnomer. The FBI is re-stating that a copyright violation to re-use or distribute these protected properties "even if you don't charge or get [any] money for it's re-use". The FBI says that piracy is it's 3rd most important enforcement job."
For somethng as little as Greedy's violation, it's far more likely he would be sued by Ms. Simpson's camp in a civil suit than prosecuted by the FBI. However, the fact that the Herald-Mail's agent (webbie) has been notified and refused to delete the pirated material might prompt them to act against them to make an example.
Alternately, the MPAA may take an interest, if that clip was pirated from a movie. They've been going after people pretty agressively, though not in the news as much as RIAA.

A Moon in MarylandQUOTE
A Montgomery County judge ruled Tuesday that the act of mooning is not illegal in Maryland, clearing a man accused of indecent exposure after showing his buttocks to a neighbor during an argument.
...
"If exposure of half of the buttock constituted indecent exposure, any woman wearing a thong at the beach at Ocean City would be guilty," Debelius said, according to a report today in The Washington Post.

Silly me, but I thought that in the U.S., or at least in Maryland, a woman wearing a thong is guilty of indecent exposure, on the beach or not. I know that in some parts of South America and Europe they wear 'em, but it's not accepted in these parts - is it?

Admittedly I haven't been to O.C. Md in ages - it was too "trashy" for my tastes when I was a teenager back in the late 70's - early 80's. But I didn't think they were wearing thongs there now. I go to the family-friendly beaches of the Outer Banks of NC - don't see many bare butts there.
