U.S. OKs Cuba for World Baseball Classic
QUOTE
The Bush administration issued a license Friday allowing the Cubans to participate in the 16-team tournament.

Baseball’s first application was denied in mid-December by the Treasury Department’s Office of Foreign Assets Control, but the commissioner’s office and the players’ association reapplied after Cuba said it would donate any profits it receives to victims of Hurricane Katrina.
We opened the door to China with ping-pong. Hopefully we can do as well with baseball, a sport where we're more proficient. But then rumor has it that Fidel was a pretty good lefty in his heyday ;}

Move the Nats to Havana if baseball's homestand in DC turns into another error?

Outstanding! This is the first step in thawing relations with Cuba, with the ultimate goal being legal purchase of Cuban cigars.

That was nice of them to donate the money to themselves. Wasn't Cuba a victim of Hurricane Katrina?
