Does anyone have a stand-alone DVD recorder -- the type used for recording TV shows and such?

Do you like it? What units/features are good?

Do they have firewire inputs so I could plug in my digital camcorder and do a quick DVD from it?

I have a Panasonic that is from last year's product line. It was less than $200, but it doesn't have Firewire. This year's model is roughly the same price but includes the Firewire. It does all of the DVD formats except +RW. Out of a couple dozen disc burns, I have yet to burn a coaster. Simple menus are easy to make. If you're going to want to edit your videos, I suggest coughing up the extra money for one with a built in hard drive. The downside is that's going to add *at least* $100 to the price.

I use it solely for dumping favorite shows from my Tivo onto DVD for archiving. I've never used the internal tuner to record live tv shows.
