A friend of mine said that as he was driving down Rt. 9 and crossing over the Shenandoah River bridge, he saw what looked like a dead wolf on the side of the road. He described it as being gray and slender, similar to a dog but definitely looked like a wolf to him. I told him it could possibly be a coyote, because I've heard of them being in our area.
Now, this guy often jumps to conclusions so I'm going to drive down in a few minutes and check it out for myself. But I was just wondering if anyone has heard of wolves being around here?

I've heard of people illegally breeding dog/wolf hybrids.
You can usually tell a wolf by it's legs though. They have really long legs.

You can rule out werewolf...when they are hit and killed by cars they will change back to human form leaving a nude man or women dead on the roadside.

OMIGAWWWD! Aren't they a protected species, too? Somebody should call the SPCA, or FBI, or PETA!
FYI Coyotes are all over the place, and not just out in the country. I've seen one playing at stalking joggers on their lunch break in the area around Shady Grove Adventist Hospital down in Rockville.
I've never seen coyote in Wash Co, but they're said to be here. I have seen foxes many times.

Well, I drove down Rt. 9 yesterday and didn't see a thing. So it was either his imagination, or most likely a coyote & someone disposed of it.
