It's probably been passed around everywhere by everyone, like a chainletter or something. A cool one though!
Baby eaglets

I have pet fever. Must stop reading animal posts. MUST STOP. Dragon had me researching bunny wabbit care and feeding. I wanna rescue a wabbit too.
No. No and no.

First egg was supposed to hatch tonight!
All I see is big bird in the way, protecting and keeping warm.

I think some have hatched. Her head hasn't come up and out of the nest for several refreshes.
Maybe she's eating them.

Mar 17 2006, 07:46 AM
It's not eating them silly! You've just were awake too long. Hope ya went to bed(and with someone)

I didn't get it in an e-mail. It was on my home page. If you really want to rescue a pet,you have to go to the animal shelter you know.
Anyways,I just thought it was cool that we have "our" own pair of Bald Eagles right here in the panhandle.Hopefully they'll survive and multiply

. (unless some jackass kills it)

Aw shucks! I was hoping it would be like one of those internet big game hunting sites where you get to shoot something via the internet!
You know I hear that in some places they'd like to remove the Bald Eagle's protected status because they're so overpopulated that they've become a very serious nuisance.

Please don't burden the poor critter with that.
Then again, it might be fitting since Democrats and Eagles are both "endangered". Just kidding.

Here's what looks like mama feeding the baby. You can just barely make out the lil guy. If you look close enough, you can see the outline of it's little beak.

ok pet lovers..I have a boy cat who is an excellent hunter that needs an outdoor home in the country.
He has managed to take out two bats (that I know of) from my attic.
Have you ever tried to catch a bat with your paws? It's not easy.

There was an article in the Washington Post about an Eagle couple with a nest on the George Washington Bridge (I think). The mom was injured and taken away to rehab, and the father is taking care of the nest & eggs. I hope he does okay.
Forgive me, but I don't have a link

Final? update to the Eagles. Looks like they have all grown up beautifully and healthy and they have all fledged!!! They are out of the nest. Of course, they come back to it and then leave again. *sigh* our very own Eagle family is thriving here in the Wild and Wonderful.

The baby birds in the nest in my back yard died.

Don't know what from, but I was mowing one day and smelled them as I went by. Glanced in and saw bugs everywhere.

sounds like the parent died. no food for them. although,I was mowing and noticed something on the ground beside my lilac bush. went and looked and someone(my cat KC) tore it all up. The fluffy inside was ripped out ,but the hard stick part was still intact. saw a small robin's egg blue egg on the ground not far away. she may be around 12yrs old but she's awful fiesty for an "old woman"

luv my "kitty cat(KC)"

COOL: I am sending the link to my kids. I missed it, the first time around. Love it, a look at eagles, how neat.
I too have a soft spot for animals. Love visiting the shelter sites on line and adopting rescue pets. The Antitiem Humane Society near Waynesboro has online pics, and is a nice place to visit.

Your heart strings will be pulled though.
You are really tempted to adopt just one more animal.

Anyone else seen the peregrine falcon around downtown? Notice there are very few pigeons downtown? He/she's been hanging around the square for the past few years, and people have been finding bird parts (there was a rumor that it was satanic rituals). I found pieces of blue jay in front of my office - you've got to be pretty tough to take on a jay. Then one day I saw what I thought was a falcon swoop down and grab a bird out of the air. A few weeks later, I saw it in the parking lot behind Bones & Cones, eating a starling. As I inched closer and closer, he squatted down and puffed out his wings(mantling). He finally let me sit 3 or 4 feet from him and watch him eat. Here's a pic I took with my phone:

I've seen him a few times since.

Two eggs have hatched and they're waiting on the third! It's been so cool and rainy that Belle and Liberty have been on the chicks, so they can't see if the third has hatched yet.
I was checking the live feed and the third has hatched! It's still wobblely. The older two are much stronger. The parent was concentrating on feeding them and didn't seem to notice the smallest

Thanks guys for always pointing out these unique animal cams or stories. I share them with my mother-in-law and she loves it. She has a computer and cam of her own for "family visits" for those distant relatives. She loves walking on the canal and checking in on wildlife via the internet when she can not get out.
Amazing to get so close, love it.

I was actually out at the private house adjacent to the tree that this eagle's nest is in, today, and saw the eaglets' heads poking out of the nest. I had no idea that the nest I was looking at was THE nest on the forums until just now. I watched the mother soar around in the clear sky for a few minutes but didn't get my camera out in time; she dove down for something tasty in the field by the time I'd unzipped my duffel bag. :-( I will be going out to that property again next week, hopefully. I'll try to take some pictures then. Seeing her fly around like that was such an unexpected treat that it gave me goosebumps.

I'm such a nature nerd with stuff like that...
