Perhaps we can use this topic to post all the stuff that we really don't want to start a thread for, or stuff that is perhaps too long for the shout box.

Kinda the way the off-topic thread was heading.

Our first H-M Fest was a rousing success tonite. Many new friends were made and funny stories exchanged. Plus we got to see each other in person. Beautiful people all. We even ragged on the people who weren't there. Plus, hello to the guy sitting at the bar that wouldn't come over and introduce himself... laugh.gif

The back channel buzz is that somebuddy decided to improve his odds by demanding that Mr. Moms 'login' to the affair with a registered User Name and Password...hence Mr. M's abrupt departure.

38AAA? Somebuddy has nothing to fear when H-M initiates its random steroids testing policy. The sports desk however, faces some problems.

This is nothing but sheer titillation in a brazen bid to increase attendance.

We assume H-M picked up the entire tab for this soiree since it constituted a Forums focus group and thus qualified as a legitimate business expense.

Sorry to bust your buzz, econ, but Mr. Moms does have a user name and password. He lets me do most of the posting for both us. However, I never refer to us as WE, like some people do! laugh.gif

Poor Yoss was stuck with all those beautiful women, but he meant after I had gone....otherwise he would have said he was surrounded by bedraggled sea hags! (no offense intended toward my beautiful counterparts) laugh.gif laugh.gif

Heh. Titillation.

Nah, I don't think I can handle meeting many more anonymous posters. It was stressful enough for me to meet this bunch, as sweet as they all were. It was too stressful. I was practically wringing my hands.

hello, id like to ask someone if they ever made dandelions, you know greens , mom always made it when she was alive , i never learned how to make it , is there any help out there? thank you ,
Yossarian
just a quick google on "dandelion greens" came up with this

The name dandelion comes from the French dent de lion, meaning "lion's tooth," a reference to the jagged-edged leaves of this noteworthy weed that grows both wild and cultivated. The bright green leaves have a slightly bitter, tangy flavor that adds interest to salads. They can also be cooked like spinach. The roots can be eaten as vegetables or roasted and ground to make root "coffee." Though they're available until winter in some states, the best, most tender dandelion greens are found in early spring, before the plant begins to flower. Look for bright-green, tender-crisp leaves; avoid those with yellowed or wilted tips. Refrigerate, tightly wrapped in a plastic bag, up to 5 days. Wash thoroughly before using. Dandelion greens are an excellent source of vitamin A, iron and calcium.

http://allrecipes.com/advice/ref/ency/terms/6201.asp

heres a receipe

Dandelion Greens (Pioneer Recipe)

* 2 lbs. fresh dandelion greens
* 2 cloves garlic
* 2 T. oil
* salt and pepper to taste

The small young leaves are the most tender. Larger, older leaves are bitter. Clean and wash the leaves. Do not eat the stem or the flower. Cut the leaves in half. Heat the oil and garlic in a saucepan. Add the leaves, salt, and pepper. Cook about 12 minutes or until tender. Add water if it gets too dry. Serve hot.

I'm thinkin that my neighbor(growing up) used the same bacon dressing for this as she did for the spinach salad. check a Betty Crocker cookbook for that dressing.I think it's in there.
sheash
Hubby grew up on it. Says it was made from bacon grease. His dad was a Mennonite tenant farmer; maybe a Mennonite or Amish cookbook?

thanks yossarian, diden't see your whole post , im at the stove right now.
Yossarian
tagout, you have dandelions already?

You must be a bit farther south.
Naomi
This sounds good:

Wilted Dandelion Greens with Hot Bacon Dressing

1 pound dandelion greens
1 small red onion, thinly sliced
4 strips of sliced slab bacon
2 teaspoons dark brown sugar
2 tablespoons cider vinegar
Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
Wash the dandelion greens thoroughly, spin them dry, and place them in a glass salad bowl. Peel and slice the onion, separating the slices into rings.

Cut the bacon into l-inch pieces and fry them in a heavy skillet until they are crisp. When they have rendered all of their fat, pour off all but 1 tablespoon of the bacon drippings, return the skillet to the burner, and rapidly stir in the sugar and the cider vinegar.

Adjust the seasoning and pour the hot dressing over the greens and onion. Add the salt and pepper and serve immediately.

Serves 4

Anyone want dandelions? My yard is full of 'em...
SMan
I mowed for the first time tonight. Our lack of rain dating back to last summer has left small bare spots everywhere in my yard. This time last year, my yard was fit to be pictured in a ChemLawn brochure, now notsomuch. sad.gif

My lawn looks better than normal this year. I fertilized late last fall and again this spring (also added lime, gypsum and Ironite). I seeded some parts last month and have tried to keep them watered during this last week. So far so good.
WVDragonlady
You people are goofy putting stuff ON the grass to make it grow just to be able to mow it DOWN again wacko.gif ! Who ya tryin to "keep up" with? It's grass for pete's sake! And why do you want to give everybody the impression that your place is so perfect? I have never understood this! It's grass. It WILL grow again and it will reseed itself. huh.gif rolleyes.gif
