I said I was going to start a move to get some legislation passed. I do not believe that an elected official who is facing any kind of inquiry should be entitled to have that issue discussed in a closed meeting. What do you all think? This refers to State and Local Officials only.

I agree.

I'm not so sure that any city employee should be entitled to have that issue discussed in a closed meeting.

I think it would be very hard to make a case that all employees sholld have it discussed in public. But I think it would be very easy to get a law passed regarding elected officials. It would be very hard for a politician to vote agaisnt public disclosure if it involved only elected officials.

I believe issues involing non-contract and non-elected officials should be discussed in private. None of us would want our employer to speak about us in a public forum. When a person is elected though it is a different story. They know going in that their private life is fair game and that issues involved in the performance of their duties is open for scrutiny or should be. They work for us. Also if a person is being given a long-term contract that should be done in public and should also include public comment.
