Actually there are numerous positions for pre-labor. Both my children were born using the Bradley Method of Natural child birth and that position can be quite comfortable (according to my wife).

I don't however think that is a good or recommended position for active labor.

Im guessing her OBGYN was a Seminole shaman...

From what I read Britney had nothing to do with the sculpture. Some artist used photographs of her to create it.

A couple of points-
#1- Brit had a scheduled c-section, never even wanted to attempt labor and a vaginal delivery as she was scared of the pain.
#2- from what I've read on this sculpture, the artist wanted to depict Brit in a seductive manner. Nothing about labor or delivery is seductive. Yes the birth of a child is a miraculous moment but tell me, who the hell gives birth on a bearskin rug?!
#3- why depict Brit? Sounds like just another way to keep her in the news
#4- CPD is right, there are several positions for pre-labor but it's definitely not common practice to give birth in that position..
