I like it...I like it alot

always been a fan of the FJ40

I have only seen blue, yellow and green...I would like to see a burnt orange or silver color added

This might be the first thing I look for in a women now... laugh.gif

Sorry Greedy, it just doesn't do it for me. Looks like a Japanese twist on a Hummer, and I HATE Hummers!

Of course, if money was no object, I think I'd have a school-bus yellow SSR, and lots of people don't like that one. Different strokes.....
Naomi
I like it, and I like it in that blue too! But if it's as big as a Hummer, no way! I don't see the point in having a vehicle that huge dry.gif

I like the looks of Toys except that one. I doubt I would own a Toy cause because they are expensive and I find the seats rather uncomfortable in them, feels like sitting on the floor to me. laugh.gif

Wrangler, I'm a bowtie fan myself, but Toyota is winning me over quickly. Example: My '98 Camry was bought as a certified used car in 2000 with 26K miles on it. I'm pushing 188K miles now, and have done NO non-maintenance-type repairs at all (unless you count body work from hitting 4 deer at 4 different times). I paid $12K for it.

Hubby's on his 3rd Toyota truck; 1st one (1983 long bed - bought new for $5K) he gave away with 300K on it - still had the original clutch, and he worked that truck hard - he's a mason. The guy who he gave it to took the bed off for some reason, and the frame broke in half, but the engine still ran like new. 2nd one is an '86 4X4 short bed with nearly 200K on it - it's got they typical body cancer, and has required a couple of repairs lately, but not expensive ones. The 3rd one is a '96 long bed with 150K on it. We bought it used from a citizen for $4.5K, and it runs like a top - we haven't done anything to it! And none of these vehicles burn oil.

My point is that yes, the inital expense is high if you buy it new (although no higher than other brands), but if you maintain it (change oil, filters, etc.), it will serve you well, and you will get your money's worth out of it. And Toyota's certified used vehicle program covers everything to 100,000 miles. Of course, if the seats don't feel right, that's a problem.

Looks like a 2-door Station Wagon LOL!

Remember when we used to make fun of people who drive those kind of vehicles? To me, the modern SUV is just the Station Wagon "reinvented". Oh it's beefed up a little to make it seem more macho, but still it's just a "road queen family truckster" in disguise. Just another grocery-toting "off-road vehicle" 99% of which never leave the pavement. You just gotta LOL!
Naomi
I think that's why I like it...it's kind of that "old school" look.

Looks more like a tank to me! I like it. How much mileage does it get Greedy and what's it going for?
mstubble
4X2 AT V6 $21,710
4X4 MT V6 $22,890
4X4 AT V6 $23,300

2WD: 18/22
4WD manual: 16/19
4WD automatic: 17/21

That's all? If I kept my foot out of the carburetor, I could get that kind of mileage out of my 350 V8 Chevy!

Bah, my Rubicon can go places that Toyota could only fantasize about.
Naomi
I would much prefer a Rubicon... they are SWEET!

Different strokes.....

I'll bet you'll be just a little bit envious when I'm getting 3/4 tank of gas in my camry for about $35 once a week and you're paying twice that a week to feed your Rubicon. It might be relatively small, but the low gear ratio is gonna make it hard on gas! Besides, that kind of driving is why they make 4-wheelers!
WVDragonlady
Younger has one,"school bus" yellow. It was getting alot of attention when I was there last night.

I went from a Honda Civic to my Rubi knowing that I would be paying twice as much for gas (just got in December as a Christmas present to myself). The fun and coolness factor far outweighs the price at the pump!

Fortunately I live very close to work (takes me about 5 min to get there), so I still use less gas than your average citizen. smile.gif

Must be hard to drive with one foot under the hood. laugh.gif My 2004 GMC Seirra 5.3 4x4 gets about 17mpg on summer blend. I drive it conservatively except for when those fast and furious wanna bes pull up beside me at the light. The big wings on those cars add like 50 hp but I can still take'em. ph34r.gif

Ha, no, I actually go off-road quite a bit with a couple of friends out by Devil's Backbone (my friend's parents have a bunch of land out there). I still want to get a nice winch/bumper for it but I keep finding other ways to spend money.

Where do you go?
sweetliberty2u
I rather have a 4x4 Pick up truck. smile.gif

The FJ is just a hipped up 4 runner. Which means proven reliability, good off road, and poor mpg.

That pic you have posted is of the concept vehicle the actual one isn't quite as cool looking if you look closely.
GreedyXJ
haha test drove a FJ yesterday it's was ok seems to have some power rode nice handled well and had 3 windshield wipers up front...ask the salesman if we could take it off road and he rolled his eyes so I went off on him...to keep him from calling me about buyin' one.
