I don't see what the big deal is, just typical Kennedy behavior. laugh.gif

Sounds like he has his story down now it was the medication. rolleyes.gif

QUOTE
Kennedy at first issued a statement saying, "I consumed no alcohol prior to the incident."

But hours later, he issued a second explanation, reiterating that he had no alcohol and saying a congressional doctor had prescribed Phenergan on Tuesday to treat gastroenteritis.

He said he took the drug along with Ambien, a prescription sleeping aid.

There appears to be real drive to acquire the "I'm special, I'm in the government" award around. He must have seen the McKinney incident, and said, hey I can do better. I figure McBean, "Do you know who I am?" must also be in the running....

The award should be a tarnished 3 finger salute...sort of a Fickle Finger of Fate Award...from Laugh-In.

Whaddaya know, Ud? He admitted it.

Rep. Kennedy entering rehab after crash
'I struggle every day with this disease,' Democrat says

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- U.S. Rep. Patrick Kennedy said Friday that he will enter a rehabilitation program after crashing his car on Capitol Hill a day earlier.

"I know that I need help," the Rhode Island Democrat said at an afternoon press conference, detailing what he called a long-term struggle with depression and addiction.

"I struggle every day with this disease, as do millions of Americans," Kennedy said.

Imagine that. What do we do now? blink.gif

I bet if he runs for reelection he'll win. Gotta love that Kennedy name. rolleyes.gif

I predict he will and you're probably right. What can you do? Who would vote for him under these circumstances? Even if I thought he deserved to be re-elected, which I have no idea, for his own good I wouldn't vote for him this time.

Regardless, I do believe he needs help and I hope he gets it. sad.gif

If he would have stepped up and resigned, then said he was going to get some help, I might have been able to find a little sympathy for him.

So instead of answering questions about what happened he just ran off to the Mayo Clinic. A nice 30 day stay and everything will be forgotten.

So everyone who gets in trouble with drugs should lose their job or just the famous ones with bad family history?

No, some are allowed to be "young and irresponsible" until the age of 40. rolleyes.gif

Then they become older and really dangerous. laugh.gif

That having been said, if he was forced to resign today it wouldn't offend me. In fact, I would be in favor of a law that would disqualify anyone from running for public office if their father, or mother, was ever a politician.

No just the elected ones.

No just the elected ones.

There is some justice in that comment. They should be held to a higher standard. They not only take an oath of office, they also make a lot of promises to a lot of people, and their actions effect more than just their constituents.

As to which is worse, I'll take the heat on this one. No matter what he did back then, he wasn't an elected official at the time.

From 2000 on he's fair game though.
