Just got back from a mini-vacation in Ocean City. Loved it, although I had some apprehension before the trip. My last trip to OC was a long time ago and I remembered it as being dirty (seedy). This recent trip left me wanting to go back again tomorrow!
We are planning another trip, a family vacation, in early August. We haven't yet decided where we will go...

Hatteras for a weekend? How about a week, MINIMUM. It takes a whole day just to get there.

My best vacations are in the winter but I'm going to KY for a few days in July with my son for my mom's 75th birthday and I'm flying my daughter and grandson in from Santa Fe for a week in August. Other than that I'll be spending extended weekends in southern MD crabbin, fishin, and layin in the hammock.

Nothing special here. We already did a quick OC weekend, plus a cruise in late Spring. Rest of summer will probably be just quickie overnighters here and there... or maybe one more beach weekend.

Sure, but with kids it seems like an eternity. Takes me 3 days just to recover from the trip! But I sure do love it there. My favorite vacation spot!

Unfortunately can't afford one this year. I will be taking mini weekend vacations to NY, Florida and GA
of course under the pretense of visiting family so I won't have to pay for a hotel.

Not many to choose from. The big seafood place on the soundfront in Hatteras is nice - can't remember the name. There's not much in the way of fine dining on Hatteras Island, but lots of little restaurants, most about the same. Bubba's is the place to go for classic Carolina BBQ. I don't eat out much as you can tell, or I'd have a long list for you. I prefer to spend my days on the beach with a picnic lunch and just toss something on the grill back at the beach house each evening.
Wow that sounds enticing... I leave in 10 days and I can't wait!
