Large hardheads (croaker) in the lower Potomac (south of 301 bridge) everywhere, don't need a boat but it helps. caught 18 last night from the pier. bait - peeled shrimp, small cut in half (same as you eat), dual hook flounder rig 1 oz sinker. best time is after 10:00 PM, don't bother during the day without a boat (20 ft water).
3 of the 18 were biggest I've ever seen, 19" - 3.5 lbs. Ounce for ounce they're the best fighting fish in the bay. I was using a light action ugly stick and it was a blast. caught 'em all between 10PM and midnight.
This fresh water really turned them on.
