Phish is trying to convince me that I need a kitty. I really want TWO though! A male and a female. But I don't know if I'm ready. My heart is still broken from the last two that passed.
What say ye? To adopt or not? If so, should I just get one?
I just don't know. Can someone offer some good advice?
I want a dog later. And a fanged kangaroo...

Yes!! Whenever Heather is around my cat you'd think it's Christmas all over again, with the squealing, clapping, and giddiness! She is kitty-deprived! And some homeless kitty(kitties) are Heather-deprived!
Do it Heather!!!
Oh, and if you're thinking of getting two, it's better to get them both at the same time rather than wait until later to get another one. That way one has not already established territorial dominance. Especially with the males.

OMG!!! That's my Momma Noel!!!
You know Heather, a house isn't really a home till there are cats there. i think you should get both. then that way they won't be lonesome either. And how can you not like the fact that when you come home, they'll both be there to want some lovin? I'd be totally nuts with out my managerie.Love all 7!!! It took me weeks to get used to not having two of them sleeping with me at night. My boy would be snuggled up against my back(or my head) and Noel would be on my feet or between my legs.

(and NO! not THAT kind of "between my legs"!! bunch of gutter minds all of ya!)

Oh, I think you should go for it Heather! I would love to have a cat or two! I go to the Humane Society and look and look and if it weren't for the adoption fee I'd be coming home with them! I've decided I want a young, but grown cat instead of a kitten.

Heather,
You won't regret it if you love cats. Just remember all the purring and devoted luv they give. And they are easy, compared to dogs. If you get two, they can have fun together while you work. Won't be so lonely.
I can't imagine my life without cats. I have three. And always have to resist wanting to get another one. When they're kittens, they follow you all over the house, thinking you're mom. Love em.

You should take Samy's cats then! I don't think he wants money for them. He just doesn't have room for them. And they are nearly grown. Did you see the pics he posted?
I only posted this because Phish's friends have a litter of kittens that she's encouraging me to check out. I hadn't realized everyone was going to pop out of the woodwork and start offering me cats everywhere.

Go to PetSmart and buy some cool new kitty stuff and spend the weekend enjoying your new housemates

BTW, I also have a handsome feline at home, who is one of the coolest cats I have ever met:

They'll also tear the place up while you're out, but at least they'll be happy. Speaking from experience, if you get two, make sure verything is secured and they have plenty of room to play. I once had two in a 2 BR apartment, and they would make a royal mess every day while I was away at work. I now only have one in a decent-sized single family home, and she's much calmer and better behaved than my two litle hellions were.

Yes, I got two kitties. Brother and sister. Cello is the lil, shy sister...the black one. And Bishop is the bold, big brother wearing the fluffy orange coat.
They have fleas.

All the products at the store warn that they shouldn't be used on kittens under 12 weeks old and mine are only 9 weeks. What to do? Any advice?
I thought about setting the babies in water up to their necks to drown the evil mites, but I know the fleas would just rush to the head and the thought of seeing their cute faces covered in crawling fleas makes me sick. They're so hard to pick out of the fur.
Must find a flea comb, but I know they are still difficult to use.

If you have a bag, You know, the one that you wash your delicates in. Looks like it made of fish net.
I suggest you use that before, you put the kittens in the water. Remember kitten/cats go wild if you put them in the water. They hate it. What you do is, you put one kitten in the bag. Zip it up to the kitten neck. Grab it behind the neck like a mother cat would. And dip it in the water. They can also hold their breath. I know it sound crazy. That way hopefully it won't scratch the heck out of you. Before all them fleas, get into your carpet and multiply.
Or you can just use the product like I use to do. Nothing bad ever happen to all them kittens I had years ago. Make sure you don't get it around there eyes. I'm not sure what product your thinking about using.
Most likely the kitten have worms, so your need meds. for that. You mix that in with moist cat food. Just enough food, where their get all the meds with it.

Sep 2 2006, 09:10 PM
Uh, no.
I'm not forcing kittens heads under water. Are you crazy? And I'm not putting chemicals on them that clearly warn it could harm them if done so.
I've held them under water, up to the chin, and drowned most of the fleas. This will have to suffice until I can get them to the vet.

Well I sure didn't mean to keep them under water forever. Just a quick second in and out. Gee Wiz.
Oh I was just thinking of all them fleas hopping on the carpet and multipying and they will. Then your have a bigger problem.
Years ago, when I use to have cats and kittens. I use the stuff they sale in the store. And to be honest, I never had a kitten get sick from it. I'm one that use to get them, when their wild and tame them. So they could be given to other people that wanted them. Even pick up a few that got hit by cars, and doctor them up. They all survice if I must say.
Well you did ask for advice. I gave

sweet little Cello. I think B&W pics always say more than color. amazing how different sibs can be from cats, ain't it? I have the same with my sib pair. Baby's huge while Callico is petite. Baby's sweet and wants attention all the time and Callie is a psycho kittie.
