I want to scream out:

Attention newbies and lurkers! Many of us are wonderful, friendly, happy people with few personal beefs against the world! Most of us are tolerant of others and others' opinions. Most of our nitpicking fights are similar to a sibling rivalry type thing. We enjoy a lively debate, but we're not going to burn down your house if we disagree with you! Please join us!

Actually, I do wonder that. And then I wonder why the rest of us stick around here like gluttons for punishment!

I nominate myself as official greeter.

I'll take them under my wing, show them the ropes, advise them how to flame others, make unintelligent arguments, etc.

That would be a great idea for a reality TV show.

Just kidding pf, I know what you mean and even though I don't think many people are shocked by what they read here, the arguing does probably tend to attract those who are similarly inclined.

I think it just takes time. There are a lot more members here now than when I joined less than 2 years ago and they've found a way to fit in and have a lot to offer.

Some people on here have some pretty good insights and opinions.

I learn alot about Hagerstown since I been on this forum. Sometimes it does get pretty heated in here.

But I guess that's the way it is, when you don't see someone face to face.

Because we're a family. A major disfunctional family! But a family.

I know that sometimes people don't get that I'm joking. You know, the dry, deadpan or sarcastic humor where you act totally serious but are just trying to get a laugh.

Sometimes you really have to know the poster's personality and penchant for emoticon use to get the joke.

You usually cause big belly laughs. Once in awhile, Yoss complains cuz he spits out his coffee onto his monitor! But I say, that's Yoss' problem. Not to worry.
