First, let me say that preseason should be shortened. I'm not a huge 'Skins fan (I like to see them win) but injuries like Portis' could have a direct impact on their performance. You never know who could be injured next. It could be Manning, TO, Roethlisberger or anyone. Your franchise player could be done for the season without playing a regular season game and its stupid.
With that said, has anyone been watching any games? I've caught a few on the NFL Network... currently watching Losman play in a sackfest. How are your teams looking so far?

I didn't watch last night's Redskins game, and I'm glad. With Portis getting injured in the first minutes of the game, I would've been crying the whole night
Gibbs even remarked that he only planned on playing his first string for a few drives, but look what happened! Betts will be replacing Portis while he recovers, and hopefully he'll be back for the regular season.
It's really too early to tell how my 'skins will do in the regular season. I'll just be hoping for no more injuries

At the end of the Deadskins game last night, Madden, Al Michaels, and the studio crew were offering their advice to the new NFL commish. One of the suggestions was switch the preseason to 2 game and make the regular season 18 games. Apparently, owners love preseason because they make money and don't actually pay the players game checks for the preseason games.
The Cowboys second squad played strong the entire game while beating the defending NFC champs late Saturday night. So far, so good, except for that cyclist/wide receiver not taking part in any training camp yet.

I'm not so sure.Crayton's high-ankle spain sometimes takes a long time to heal. With TO and Terry Glen hobbled the secondary need some good receivers to practice against. I feel bad for Beriault, in the 2 or 3 pre-season games he played in last year he reminded me of Bates.
It seems to me that if they go to 18 games the players would just get paid less for each game. They have to prepare to play for at least 20 games regardless and their contract are negotiated per season, nor per game. But I have no problem with it the way it is. If they change it there will probably be more injuries like TO's hamstring early in the season.
I would like to see them allow more players on IR and let them come back right up until the last game. I think it would for better games late in the year.
Just my 2 cents.

They'll be alright at WR. I thought I heard a rumbling last week on one of the afternoon ESPN shows that FredEx had a tryout.
They will be running a lot of 2 TE sets this year so as to have Witten and that rookie high draft TE on the field at the same time.

It wouldn't be a Parcells team if they didn't. They had the ball for 35 minutes Sat night, I'm sure that thrilled him. I hated to see Campbell go but this Fasano kid is supposed to be pretty good.

Yeah, but the last season or two felt like they were using the 2 TE sets to keep the QB from getting murdered. This year, it's to (hopefully) have an extra weapon on the field.

Bad news for the 'skins. Clinton Portis (shoulder) and Shawn Springs (groin) are done for at least the preseason, maybe dipping into the regular season. Ladell Betts can pick up most of Portis' slack, but losing a starting corner (Springs) in this league can be devastating.
In Dallas, the Tuna's comments to the press the other day must have had an effect on T.O. since he was off the bike and back on the field today.
Jets RB Curtis Martin, who is a perennial, solid fantasy pick, is teetering on being put on the physically unable to perform list.

Preseason record 0-4! well after another lousy showing last night against the Ravens I'm ready for some real football. They can't be this bad in the regular season. I've never been a huge brunell especially considering the Skins got him about 4 years too late but this guy has got to have a BIG year for the skins to do anything and Posrtis has got to come back healthy ASAP. 2 recievers who probably wont make the team but deserve a shot somewhere are Espy and Farris. Seems like they catch everything thrown at them. Maybe practice squad guys

I just don't think Brunell fits in the 'Skins system, but it could be the fact that he's just not the QB that he once was. I remember the constant comparisons to Steve Young... I just don't see that player anymore. It's a shame, he seems like a real good guy too.

I hate to say it (oh, who am I kidding? I love to say it) samy, but phluux is right about Brunell. The skins made it to the playoffs last year in spite of Brunell, not because of him.

the only 2 good things I can say about brunell are 1) He used to be very good 2) He's a hell of a lot better than todd collins

Well I think Brunell is pretty smart; the problem is that Washington's offense hasn't had the speed or protection that Jacksonville's did when he was there. He had two blazing fast receivers that got separation quick from the corners, so he didn't have to hold the ball as long. (Maybe Randel El will take some pressure off of Moss) When he had to run, he had plenty of room because they had a pretty good line.. and of course, he's just not as swift as he used to be. He also had Taylor to dump the ball off to when he needed (not sure if Portis is a better receiver than Taylor or not) and a decent tight end, though I really like Chris Cooley and think he and Brunell have some good chemistry.
I really do like Brunell and I think in the right offense he could still be a top 10 QB. The longer he holds the ball, the worse he plays because he'll try to force a play rather than give up one.

Big Ben Roethlisberger is out for at least the opener with an emergency appendectomy.

I hate the Cowboys, but that jerk who kicked the player who was down needs to be suspended w/o pay. Sick.

I'd suspend him for 2 games minimum. That guy got 30 stitches. Brutal

6 games seems okay. He better be lucky it did not permanently injure the guys eye or it might need to be lifetime.

Was it 6? Or 5. I heard 5. Either way it's about right. They had to make it more than the standard 4 weeks for a first time drug violation. You're not endangering someone else's health in that case.
The good news is that I heard that Gurode was lifting weights yesterday and is planning on practicing today.
Also the way the Titans coach handled it was classy.
