I was applying a no-cd crack to one of my games and I seemed to have gotten a nice spyware app installed instead. I've run Ad-Aware, Spybot and Spyware Doctor and I cannot get rid of it. I've rebooted in safe mode to keep processes from starting up so that they can be removed with no luck. Symantec hasn't found any viruses, either.
Anyone here able to decipher Hijack This! logs? I can pick out a few things.. but there are some processes that I don't recognize. That seems to be my last resort.

Send me the log.
One thing that tends to work is to disable restore points, boot to safe mode, clean up, boot to regular mode and turn restore points back on.

Sent you the logfile CPD.
cfulmor, some of the games I play on my pc and laptop require the CD to be in the drive for it to run. A no-cd crack basically modifies the .exe file so that it doesn't require the CD to run. Comes in handy when I have to go on a trip and take my laptop with me or if I lose a CD.. which seems to happen often.

Ph-
I found 2 entries in registry that are "bad"
typeconf.exe and LOPTCON.exe
Backup registry and delete those two entries. I am pretty sure you will have to disable restore points and boot to safe mode to do this.

Haven't had a chance to do this yet.. been working on my laptop. Hopefully I'll get some time tonight to sit down and deal with it. Thanks again for the info, I'll start with that.

Phluux,
I have had spyware, viriuses i could go on. I have had to take my computer back to factory use than reinstall all my programs.
After many times of dealing with those issues it got old fast. I have adaware, and i also have kaspersky. They run so well togeather. No problems now.......
Kaspersky also automaticly finds all the updates for my Computer. All i have to do is push install updates, and it does it.
Just trying to help...........
