How much $$$$??
WVDragonlady
Sep 14 2006, 01:11 PM
$26.95 adults at the gates. You can get them for $22.95 by going to the web site and using the Virtual Boxoffice.
For that price you get 9hrs.( 11am - 8 pm) of shows. They're included in the price. Some of the kids rides and games are extra.

$26 for 9hrs of professional performances seems reasonable to me. Some shows at the Md. Theatre cost more than that and they're only a couple of hours long. Or spending big bucks to watch cars go around a circle making left hand turns!
To each his own. It's a fun, family place.

My 2 youngest kids went on field trips there for school. How cool is that? They both went the last 2 years when they were in 8th grade at Spring Mills Middle school. I really want to go now, and they want to go back, so it must be a fun thing to do.

The wife and I are heading to the Rennfest in Catonsville Saturday! Let the debauchery begin!

And to quote 1 of my favorite movies...
Hao! Dai ye! We won again! This is good, but what is best in life?
The open steppe, fleet horse, falcons at your wrist, and the wind in your hair.
Wrong! Conan! What is best in life?
To crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and to hear the lamentation of the women.
That is good! That is good.

Bid Fare Thee Well To Wogelmut and Don Juan and Miguel Sadness comes early to the Shire this weekend in the form of our having to bid our final "Fare Thee Well's" to two favorites, one of long standing and one new just this season. Don Juan and Miguel leave following Sunday's performance after yet another six weeks of making us smile always, and laugh out loud often. If you've missed them thus far this season, be sure to catch one of their four shows each day at the End Game Stage. They have also asked us to remind you to come up to the stage after a performance and say hello, and this weekend, goodbye, as they prepare for their next performance adventure. Wogelmut came, they played, and, they conquered! Just three weeks into their first-ever Faire run, patrons and villagers alike are saying how much they are going to miss these incredibly talented and energetic musicians who traveled all the way from Germany to be with us this year. Far more than musicians, the four guys, and one beautifully talented lady dancer, have entertained at every turn. Playing along the village streets, alone, together, and even with patrons who, more and more, bring their own period instruments to become a part of the musical ensemble of the Shire, Wogelmut has definitely left its mark upon Mount Hope. Don Juan and Miguel and our new friends, Wogelmut -- we wish you well, and safe journey! Pirate Cigar Smoker It's worth mentioning, but seats are becoming scarcer each week - the Pirate Smoker, all adult humor at 5 of the clock in the new area of the Shire that's come to be known as Cheap Side. By reservation only. Visit the Virtual Box Office. Get You to the Faire!
Purchase Click at Home Discount Tickets Valid All Season 1. Lancaster Liederkranz - Long a staple at our Oktoberfest Celebration are our friends from Lancaster Liederkranz. All throughout the day, under the pavilion of red and white, will you find them serving forth the most authentic German menu items you'll find in any century. The "best of the wursts" and the potato pancakes are among the Shire's favorites. Adding song and dance to the festivities are the Liederkranz's Hobby Chor and the wonderfully costumed and entertaining Alpenrose Schuplattler Dancers. 2. Ceremonial Tapping of the Keg - it's not Oktoberfest without the ceremonial tapping of the special Oktoberfest brew, straight from the tanks of our own Swashbuckler Brew Pub. 'Tis a most cheery event with Her Majesty herself presiding. 3. Jolly Joe and the Bavarians - classic Germany music under the red and white pavilion. Enjoy the food, the drink and the delightful music of Jolly Joe. 4. Art of the Brewmeister - rare is the opportunity to sample the brewmeister's works and speak with him about his "secrets" of the brewing process. Twice daily. No additional charge. 5. Ode to Ale - be it verse or poetry, you are invited to bespeak of the virtues of the brewer's magic, all for great fun and Faire prizes, of course! Registration 1:30 at the rear of Swashbuckler Stage. Competition begins at 2 of the clock. More Octoberfest DetailsI have to say that they have some of the best tasteing wines! And they're reasonable in price for good wine. The heat is the reason why we don't go that often until now. it's cooler and much more fun. Some times in Oct. you need gloves and scarves! wonderful! some hot chocolate, or warm cider and strolling along the lanes and theres leaves falling and some camp fires burning here and there...smells so good! Take in a show, people watch, listen to the street performers...nice fall thing to do.

Chapter One
The Background
It was a cold and damp morning when Robert Devereaux, the Earl of Essex, departed from the Irish city of Kilkenny. Sent by Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth, to quell a bitter and violent rebellion of Irish warlords and the villagers of the Irish countryside, the Earl believed his mission accomplished as he had ended the rebellion, not by defeating the rebels as he had been dispatched to do, but rather by signing a peace treaty with the most powerful of the warlords, one Hugh O'Neill, the second Earl of Tyrone.
Essex is eager to return to English soil to relate the glory of his peace making efforts to the Queen and his fellow members of Court. He is also beaming with a new-found radiance, for at his side is the Earl of Tyrone's sister, Delaney O'Foghladh, the Baroness of Tyrone, the privilege of wooing her given to him as a gift by the Irish Earl as part of the peace treaty. Not surprisingly given Delaney's grace, beauty and charm, Essex has become hopelessly in love with his "gift" and has made her his bride-to-be.
Delaney, derived from the Gaelic "dark challenger", O"Foghladh from the Gaelic "plunderer" was born with the same rebellious spirit as her brother and had become even more vocal in her anti-English sentiment. Ambition as well is a hereditary trait that she shares with her brother. In fact, those who know her best were surprised that she has returned the affection of the English Lord, rather than turning on him as she would any Englishman crossing her path.
In the early days of their courting, Delaney would wonder out loud with Essex why he has not been named successor to the English throne. Eventually her musings became more a "when" he would become English King than "if" it might happen. Essex began to view the Kingship as one of right. After all, he shared Elizabeth's Royal Blood and his deeds and actions in Court and upon the battlefield made him the most logical successor to the throne.
More and more, Essex's love has become his provocateur, fueling his lust and greed for power, fame and glory. Of course, when Essex becomes King, Delaney will be Queen of all England, a position, for reasons she has not shared even with Robert, she covets more than anything else she holds dear.
Today Essex and Delaney prepare to surprise the Queen and all of the good people of the Shire of Mount Hope with their unannounced appearance at the site of Her Majesty's favorite autumn festival held in Her honor, just a two-hour carriage ride from London. The pillow talks of the two star-crossed lovers have risen to a devious plot to force Elizabeth into naming Essex the next King of England. The first pages of their scheme are about to be turned.
Morning Court
As always, the denizens of Mount Hope are in an elevated state of excitement for their beloved Queen has graced their Shire once again. As has been Her custom, Morning Court is held in open air with villagers from near and far invited to bear witness to the ceremonies. She smiles and laughs openly upon meeting the scores of entertainers on hand to amuse and delight the festival goers. The Queen Herself, the Lord Sir Walter Raleigh, her closest friend and advisor nearby, seems at peace and grateful to be in Mount Hope, far from the political intrigue so commonplace at Nonesuch Castle back in London.
Elizabeth reluctantly, and with much appreciation and gratitude, accepts the resignation of Sir Henry, Her long-standing Royal Champion, who this day will pass the Royal Sword on to a new champion to be determined at the Jousting Tournament to be held at two of the clock in Bosworth Field.
As she prepares to dismiss the assemblage, over the crest of the hill comes the Lord Devereaux and the Baroness Delaney, beautifully bedecked in royal colors of her own. Essex announces his "victory" in Ireland, eventually acknowledging that it came by way of treaty, not by conquest as he had been directed. To the shock of all, he then lays claim to the next Ruler of England, and asks that Elizabeth so acknowledge by Her act of naming him successor to the Throne.
The Queen is cordial to the Baroness while summarily dismissing Essex's claim to Royalty, reminding him that She and She alone shall determine who shall sit upon the Throne when She is no longer able. The crowd is surprised at Elizabeth's patience in dealing with Essex and Delaney, especially when She agrees that the Irish Baroness may preside, upon horse, over the Jousting Tournament For a New Queen's Champion with Sir Henry stepping down as Marshall to compete one last time against the most skilled knights in all the Realm.
However, the Queen's congeniality has its limits, and when pressed further by Essex, she declares that she is more inclined to strip him of all his titles and lands, including the Governorship of Ireland for disobeying Her orders. Yet, forever forgiving, and even playful, she allows that Lord Essex may compete against Sir Walter in the Match of Human Chess -- the stakes are the Governorship of Ireland and Essex's future place at Elizabeth's Court.
Delaney whispers into Essex's ear, smiles coyly at the Queen and thanks Her Majesty for allowing her to display her equestrian prowess in the Jousting Arena at Bosworth Field where she shall Marshall the Challenge for a new Queen's Champion.
Something is afoul. The villagers feel it. Members of Court murmur that nothing good can come of the alliance betwixt Essex and the Irish Baroness. Sir Walter even seeks to strike Essex to his knees for his acts of insubordination. Yet, Her Majesty, always confidant, with the undying belief that She rules with the will of Her people and the divine grace of the All Mighty, walks away from Court with wishes to all that they enjoy their festival day.

Might ye play the role of photog and lure us in with some neato pictures? Not necessarily to expose identities, but may hap a few miscellaneous objects? Spooky fire or masked baybahs?
