This time it's for the rehearsal dinner.

It'll be held in a nice restaurant... not five-star, but probably four-star.

Anyway... I don't want to be overdressed or underdressed. My two choices:

TOP: Black button down shirt or black tunic sweater
BOTTOM: Brown/black plaid knee-length skirt
SHOES: Knee-high black boots

TOP: Pinstriped button down shirt or similar striped button-down
BOTTOM: Black skinny pants
SHOES: Black pointy-toe slingbacks

Which would you choose?
Naomi
Dang, I like the sound of both!

Maybe since you're doing the little black dress for the wedding, do the striped button down shirt and pants for the dinner?

Because I always thought brown and black weren't supposed to go together. Or is that an old fashion rule? I don't know.

Although, boots are more fitting to the change of season. But then September isn't technically fall.

Hell, I don't know anything about fashion. Why do I picture you better in bright colors? Don't listen to me. I have no idea.

I pick #2 with sling backs.

OH, What do i kow, I`m a guy. an old one at that. wink.gif

I actually am opting for a brown dress for the wedding. The reason? When I actually tried them on, the black one was completely ill-fitting. The brown one was much more flattering.

See?

The black looks frumpy. Go with the brown. smile.gif

Are you going to wear a jacket with the shirt and pants? If not, it might be too casual.

Black skinny pants are in right now. Have you seen the new Gap commercial that uses Audrey Hepburn?

I agree with Heather, definely the brown. You look great! Maybe a nice wrap if it gets cool.

For the dinner, the striped shirt combo sounds very classic. I would go with that if the restaurant is upscale. If it has a little upbeat attitude to it, I would go with the plaid/boots outfit. Sounds more jazzy. Any pics of those outfits. We could judge better that way. wink.gif

I like that commercial. Very cute. They've hung Audrey in the windows of the stores too.

peacefrog
Yay! Fancy no-meat restaurants! LOL laugh.gif

Going with brown dress for wedding with mocha colored pashmina, bronze shoes, red accessories.

For rehearsal, black skinny pants and black/purple pinstriped shirt. Am also bringing/wearing a black blazer type jacket, just in case I need to look a little bit dressier. I can always take it off for a more casual look.

Thanks for the advice! Maybe one day I'll learn how to dress myself... wink.gif
