Mcgee
I thought the Young and Ressless was only on TV.
Having a pinched nerve in your foot is not fun at all.
The gas prices are like the tempature in the summer always going up.
I`ll have to get a part time job just to put gas in my riding mower.
Washing a big dog is not a fun thing to do.
Some people can`t take a joke.
My daughters step son is gearing up for the Olympic trials. Good Luck Allen.
There will be a fun raiser to help ease the expences going to the trials and the Olympics.
SMan
I love washing my big dog, McGee, at least in the warm weather when I can do it with a hose in the driveway.

This week, I learned...

- I must back up my files so the next time I crash and burn I don't have to waste valuable time re-creating
work that I already did! Stupid, Stupid Woman!!!!!
- Teaching my girl to drive is easier than teaching my boys.
- Chat-Drama isn't as much fun as I thought it would be, acutally, it's kinda middle-school-ish.
- I miss Burn sad.gif
- The HM Shoutbox rules are a PITA, and I'm prolly gonna get banned from there sometime in the near
future for refusing to follow said rules.
- I wanna sit down with SS, drain a bottle or two of cheap wine and talk about our religious views and
experiences.
- Religious Pompasity is alive and well in WashCo.

1. It is sometimes hard to keep track of who is not getting along
2. I appreciate what the Mods do even when no one else seems to
3. My grandson continues to be the smartest 2-year-old I know
4. I learn something new everyday when I read the forum
txexpatriot
I learned I do like my new job and all its nuttiness. I do not miss my old one at all.
I learned I can hire things out to be done, even if it costs money.
I learned my sinuses are really full..too much pollen. Cat just came in--he smells like flowers..ach...hoo... biggrin.gif

1. Doing 19 mph over the speed limit in a school zone will earn you a date in court, even if you have a squeaky clean driving record. (In my defense I went back to look for any signs & said sign was 3/4 of the way up a telephone pole. Far from being easily visible & not at eye level like every other sign on the @#%@ road.)

2. Cheap corkscrews are a waste of money, they just bend and fall apart. Taking a screw & using the nail remover end of a hammer to uncork a wine bottle only results in the breaking the top off the bottle. (unlike the easy removal of the cork that others claimed worked so well for them!)

3. My sweet little 23 month old needs to undergo eye muscle surgery and I'm a wreck just thinking about it.

4. Panera cinnamon crunch bagels are beyond yummy & go perfectly with a french vanilla cappuccino.

5. Having a migraine can be incredibly incapacitating and can cause you to see double. Not fun when you have 2 small children to care for!
WVDragonlady
1) I need a cover for the shute from my new/old honda lawnmower

5) My Mom would've been 87 yr old this past tuesday...Happy Bday Ma

6) Apparently, we're getting a new Target AND a Home Depot at the exit 12 in Mart.

7) If you try to eat a peice of pizza right out of the oven, you'll burn your lip, get a blister, and it hurts like &^%%!!!

8) If your the only one in site, and someone is desperate, you get promoted wink.gif

1. My 10 year old lab pooch has a bit of arthritis developing, but the rest of him is in great shape.
1a. "senior dog" blood tests are damn expensive, but worth it to me for peace of mind.

2. If you're in the market for a vehicle, now is a great time to buy.

3. Some members' lives crashed and burned this week. Schadenfreude at it's finest.

Well......well......well.........I learned that certain subjects in here never die.

I learned how moving and flattering it is when another member wants to get together and discuss religion and viewpoints in general with me. Ty, Jelsey........that made me feel good!

I learned that if members do not find conflict in one thing, they often find conflict in another.

I learned that I do not remember Blake's poetry as well as I should.

I learned that I miss my fifteen yr old cat a lot more than I thought I would.

I learned that ending a post with a certain emoticon will get me mistaken for a member who uses that emoticon more often than I do! rolleyes.gif

I learned that this biggrin.gif is a better emoticon for yours truly!...................... biggrin.gif

I learned what the "mark of the devil" is!!! biggrin.gif ♫♪♫♪♫

-I learned never to go in front of the mayor and council. They will act like they are doing you a favor for listening to your concern, then reprimand you for not understanding the process.

A riding mower is a pain in the Azz.
City inspectors are IDIOTS. (1/2 inch) to high and you replace your sidewalk. mad.gif
The more you watch the city council meeting the more the good ole boys still exist.
My daughters step son is in a javelin competition in Philly this week. Go Allen
My wife retires today. biggrin.gif I`ll need to buy more golf balls.
Kid
- gas prices are high
- people want shopping centers built...in somebody elses neighborhood
- the county may be getting live viewing meetings soon
- riding mowers are a pain in the azz
- hag is a motorcyclist that votes for democrats which makes him a criminal

I learned:

It's hard to keep up with the drama on here when away.

The keyboard in France does not have the letters in the same place as ours. In Germany, only the Z and Y are switched.

Relatives in France and Germany are convinced that the USA is going to have a depression and it will have a domino effect across the world. Our American spending dollars were reduced to less than half in euros. The dollar is almost worthless overseas. Scary. Cousin thinks that all the world banks will get together to try to correct the problem before it gets catastrophic.

I am really ignorant about financial topics, especially world finances and the stock market and don't have much interest to learn. I have a hard enough time keeping to my budget. But, I do listen.

Wesley is going to jail for tax evasion! How can this be? Oh Wesley, you dummy, you'll be missed!!

Motorcyclists in Paris drive fast between lines of moving cars. Right on the dotted white lines and no one thinks there's anything wrong with that. They all have these little cars and park on the sidewalks if needed. Getting a parking ticket is rare.

You aren't allowed to take a picture of the American Embassy close up.

Be it ever so humble, there's no place like home!
chief
I did not just learn this today, but to McGee's response I would like to add that it is not just the City Council, but this whole county which belongs to the "good ole boys."
siriunsun
I learned that no matter how old I get, losing a pet is always sad. Especially when the pet has been with me for 1/3 of my life. I also learned, once again, that my childrens' pain is my pain.

I learned that I hate republicans? Huh?

I learned how powerful rewards can be to accomplish small miracles with children who have disabilities.
Ithlilian
I'm not reading 15 pages of posts, but in the original topic post...

Why in the world does traffic get so bad on 70W around exit 40 or so. Maybe it's because the trucks have to get over after going up the hill. Yucky.

FRIDAY: Lessons

I have learned its hard digging for a thread before my coffee. But I found the Friday thread.

I am feeling older. Going back to work full-time, OMG. So much to learn about technology within a social work job.
Many changes.

I am loving my job, great stories and nice people but long hours getting up to snuff on the new Federal regulations. OMG, everything is regulated. ph34r.gif

I have to fit in exercise so it is off to the gym today, and time to dust off my bike.......Balance.

I have learned I love threads that go off topic, and I seem to contribute to it lately. I am having some serious flash backs to The Jetsons and can tie it in to many topics. unsure.gif laugh.gif

I am excited my kids are coming home today for the summer...........balance is back in the house.

I miss the edit feature to cotrrect my ramblings and spelling. I am fair game now for the Herald-mail spelling and grammar threads and blogs. I like editing right after my post,, I often miss double words or missed commas. But I am in good hands, others will pick it up. Enjoy. laugh.gif tongue.gif

Ok, just shoot me, how many times can I say "I have learned?" Wow I got to edit.ohmy.gif
Patton
I've learned:

I can actually have a semi-civil banter with the Mods/Admins of this board. dry.gif

Most people take our Military for granted. sad.gif

UTI's stink when you are 5 years old, and make mommy and daddy worry. unsure.gif

It's cool to be me sometimes. cool.gif
Dodge Man
I've learned to watch my back at all times.

To pay more attention to my surroundings.

More importantly not to speak to those who can't be spoken too. Because they're simply not worth the pot I pee in.

And agreeing with SS, The rewards coming from a special needs child far out weigh money, success, and spiritual growth.

Most people in this town have SICK and demented minds and the judges and lawyers buy into that mind set and ignore the truth.

Builders will get there way no matter what the public feels. $$$$$$$$$$$$$ Talks people walk.

Diesel fuel sucks and it's getting worse, but I simply take it and drive on.

My so called Stimulus check is STILL IN THE MAIL!!!!!!!!! AND NOT THE AMOUNT THEY SAID IT WOULD BE!!!!! Government mad.gif mad.gif mad.gif mad.gif

That my 100% average still goes--if I have to go camping, its gonna rain! Like today.

That my new windows will probably not be put in today, because its raining.

That I am sticking to my diet even when I don't want to, and yes, I am still losing weight-very, very slowly...ugh.

That my company car has 1 charger, and the only place to find a splitter is Wally-World's automotive department. I went to the 'office box stores' and they all looked like I was a looney!

I love my children even when they are 'difficult'..15 years old dd is just grouchy all the time! But I think DS was at that age, too!

As usual, I am behind in packing for said camping trip, and found last night that the last person I loaned my air mattress and blow up pump to returned it w/o a part. So, off to the coleman store for me to buy a new pump ..oh well.

I learned I never stop learning.

And that men all huff & puff at spending money & mine is not the lone ranger...
biggrin.gif

This week I learned

1) Being a Mod sucked 4 years ago and according to Modsquad it hasn't gotten any better

2) The best threads are usually the ones that veer off topic

3) Rain sucks!

4) Mowing sucks!

5) I should tell my wife and kids how much they mean to me more often

6) Having a pool sucks when its opening time

7) In washington county and especially H-town the more things change the more they stay the same
jelsey
This week I learned that...

- being a Mod is a challenging job and that I should appreciate their time and devotion to the job more than I already do.

- I have no clue what the parents of "difficult" or "challenged" children go thru.

- my mother, at 77 years of age, is still my hero.

- my neighbors, "the midgets", are only small in stature, but big in life experience.

- too many shots of Jaegermeister on an empty tummy makes a person walk funny.

- the thought of my oldest son on his first motorcycle gives me the "panic flutters" in my stomach.

- I'm even more cold-hearted that I had previously thought, gotta work on that...or not. cool.gif
PandorasBox
O.K., Here it goes from a "N00b"...

1) Most members agree - old mods > new mods (no offense, just callin' as I see read it)

2) Most mods (old & new) agree - moderating this forum is not an easy (or rewarding) job!

3) Debbie Meyers Green Bags really DO work! (Thanks WVD) So I will take my 5 year olds advise & order some!

4) There are a lot of rockers on this forum! biggrin.gif

5) Jelsey is the mom of twins! Cool!

6) SS lives not in the area, but in the midwest... And it does not make an easy garden grow!

7) I posted a thread that actually hit 100 post! Yeah, me! biggrin.gif

8) California overruled gay marriage ban, 4-3

9) Clinton claimed victory in neighboring WVa. (and I STILL have no clue as to how I will vote in November! Ugh!)

10) Patton really does know how to play nice in the sandbox - it just depends whether or not he's in the mood... wink.gif

11) I am tired of this cold, wet, dreary rain in May - Give me some friggin' SUNSHINE already!!! mad.gif
WVDragonlady
1) I missed the meeting about the " Fly-in" housing developement yesterday evening...I gotta start writing stuff down

2) Having " that test" done by a woman doctor is alot more easier than having a male doctor do it

3)NOT complaining about the weather makes me feel WAY better than all the other people doing so

4)I didn't win any prizes at the Fireman's Bonanza last Saturday

5)Checks spilled the beans about some of us on the board......the beating with the wet noodle will happen at the next lunch

6) The neighbor;s dog who WILL NOT STOP BARKING!!! is driving me CRAZY!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Checkingin
I've learned:

I'm in trouble with Dragon, again! What did I do this time?? (I didn't see a lol or smiley face dragon...yer skearing me! ha!)
wink.gif laugh.gif

Lots of people on here have pools! cool.

Jelsey is taking a break. sad.gif I think she's too hard on herself. She is definitely NOT cold hearted, to say the least! But, if you're health is being affected.... yeah, take that break. But let's have a fried chicken and lemonade picnic soon!

Patton's got my back! wub.gif Thanks Patton, I think!! ohmy.gif smile.gif

There's a new place in town for kid's birthday parties. Off of Oak Ridge Rd. Sorry, can't remember the name. (did someone say something about writing things down?? ) Anyway, it's much more reasonable than Chucky Cheese, I believe. Will be having a bday party there in a few weeks.

I can be very annoying.
Heather
I love this thread. wub.gif

It's not Friday anymore..........but I learned that I am addicted to planting gardens. I have four gardens now, and if Hubby has to help me with any more, I think he will throw a rototiller at me!

I learned that social services in Texas cares even less for children than I thought they did. (and I didn't think they cared much.......)

I learned that twins sometimes really hate to have their birthdays celebrated on the same day and have to share a birthday party....... mad.gif

I learned that Summer Solstice does not coincide with either my bday this year or my daughter's. Now she can have her party all to herself, too!

I learned that it's still ok for insurance to pay for some unnecessary surgeries. Just not all. biggrin.gif (It'd be nice if longer hospital stays for mastectomies and approval of blood transfusions took precedence....but....♫♪♫tradition.......tradition♫♪.....tradition!!!♫♪♫)

I learned that insecure, WASPy males do not like yours truly any better than they did ten years ago! (they normally only want one thing, anyway....no major loss!) biggrin.gif
Mcgee
This week I`ve learned that:
M&Gs are a thing of the past
Heather wants dates
You have to be big headed to have a peach basket for a hat.
Some people in here just don`t get it.
Grass grows faster when you use fertilizer
The city just keeps on sticking it to the people who rent property
Gas prices will keep a lot of people from traveling this summer
Patton
Some people DEFINATELY just don't get it.
If your mouth overrides your ass, be prepared for the consequences.
PHISH
And if your ass overrides your mouth, simply pull your head out of your ass! laugh.gif

PandorasBox
...that I love this thread!

...4 "active" abortion threads are just too many

...that some teachers just should not teach! mad.gif

...May 29th is a popular date for birthdays on this forum (hope everyone had a good one!)

...Heather & Biggins should hook up! biggrin.gif

...that ferns are the new vegetable!

...and Rachel Ray is the new Al Qaeda spokesperson! laugh.gif
Patton
Biting your tounge will make you bleed.

I've learned:

Blues Fest starts tonight, Woot!

The new cabs look funky with that big white thing on top

I'll save enough on my tax bill to buy a six of Heineken and a cigar!!
(which is more than I saved when Kid was in office)

B doesn't like politician, after all, why should they be different?

JBurrs was probably the star on his debate team

A penny here or a penny there makes no difference..............to some.

Soon I'll have to start riding a bike

The old saying, "It is not the size of the penis that matters" is true for most of the forum members. What matters is if you have foreskin or not. (http://www.foreskin.org/33-color.htm)
BMIC
That 'ignore" is a great feature! There's nothing like seeing the people you've decided to ignore posting what must surely be personal attacks and willfully choosing NOT to press the button that makes it possible to read their inane babblings. The power to lock those who offend you out of your universe is such a joy!

I like being blocked. I have arrived. Actually, I do not know but it is fun to speculate. smile.gif

I am fascinated by recipes with ferns, and stuck on bubble wrap.

UN is missing her favorite threads.

I have met some great people at the Martinsburg Arts Council. Love the drawing class.

My new job is hard but I really like it, this ole dog is learning new tricks.

I got paid by one client in eggs and peppers. biggrin.gif The best payday.

I am blessed by the children and adults I have met this month. They teach me so much.

I have learned how to navigate in cities and in desolate rural remote areas. Map Quest misses MANY streets on my route. OMG

Wow, I have heard good, bad and indifference on social workers. The ones I have recently met in West Virginia are truly wonderful. smile.gif smile.gif smile.gif

1) I always thought, when eating pears, that those crunchy granuals were processing mistakes. They are woody cells, bitches! They are natural pear flesh and not bugs or twigs! biggrin.gif

2) I am so happy about that. The pear thing.
WVDragonlady
This past week I learned:

1) that it takes 5 hours to power wash my front porch and wheel chair ramp

2) that it takes another 5 hours to seal it

3) that even with an SPF 30, I get sunburned * sigh* is there a sport 50?

4) Lowes had a great clearance sale on Memorial Day weekend. I got $35 drapes for a BUCK!! And $15 Valances for 75 cents!

5) Hubby forgot it was his Bday on tuesday. ( I don't know about him sometimes)

6) If you don't have an opinion on abortion or uncircumsized penis', then this place is boring.

7) John Locke was in the coffin! HOLY FRICKIN CRAP!! sad.gif

8) and most important thing I learned is: Don't make plans. They never go off anyways.
siriunsun
1. That Un is not a mod. biggrin.gif

2. That not attacking BM is the same thing as attacking him, according to him.

3. That when BM ignores me, he still seems to know what I have said.

4. That Jesus used to be just alright with me, but now I am not so sure. Just certain followers, I guess.

5. That living in a couple places that have had natural disasters, living in different places under different circumstances, and working with people from other cultures has given me a unique perspective. My mistake to expect everyone else to understand.

6. That reflecting upon those disasters makes me angry all over again that we, as citizens, do not do more to prepare ourselves for Nature's moods, and do not have the slightest clue, most of the time, how to help each other.

7. That people take circumcision very seriously......................... rolleyes.gif

8. That we MUST discuss abortion again................ rolleyes.gif

9. That my gardens are all doing well. Maybe I will post some pics.

10. That the Goddess is good. She always is.

I've learned that a lot of people and I mean a LOT of people let B get to them.
