I'm a little shaky on when to use "who" and when to use "whom". Anybody have an easy way to remember the rules for usage?

explain the proper usage of their or they're for me please. Thank you grammar police biggrin.gif
SMan
Their = a 3rd person plural possessive

They're = a contraction for "they are"

"just" so everyone knows ahead of time, I have a major problem with typing jsut instead of just. My fingers seem to want to put that s before the u. I don't catch it all the time, so I hope no one "catches" me on that! dry.gif

Thats it. I'm good! Thank you Sman

Use "who" when you'd replace it in the sentence with "he."

Use "whom" when you'd replace it with "him." (The "M" in whom and him makes this easy to remember."

Such as:

Who did it? He did it.
To whom did you give it? I gave it to him.

I just realized I had an extra quotation mark in my post. I am not going to edit it out.

I will wait for the grammar/spelling/error police to come and haul me off in handcuffs. wink.gif

Seriously, though... I never take the time to double-check or proofread my forum posts. And if I notice an error later, I usually just leave it there. Why put on airs? LOL

Firefox 2.0 has a built in spell checker. Write your post as you normally would and it highlights misspelled words with a red underline.

Unfortunately, it does nothing for grammar. For those that have Microsoft Office's Word, you can type your posts in Word, have Word spell and grammar check it, copy it and paste it here.

Your - possessive, ex: Your car.

You're - contraction for you are. ex: You're great.

Ur - chat room speak for either your or you're. ex: Ur butt looks great on web cam.
