I just viewed a detailed video on how to make an ATM machine hold a users card and they will think it has been confiscated by the bank. Then a helpful customer comes by and offers to help by holding down 2-3 keys while you type in your PIN. When that doesn't work, he waits til you leave then retrieves your card (and your PIN).

Advise: If your card is not returned don't get help from strangers and report it to the bank immediately.

I'd like to see the video.. for investigative purposes, of course.

A bit more research on this and found out it is several years old and only one bank was susceptible.

I am sure there are new scams being tried everyday.

This is true. Here is the proof. But it happened in 2001.

Was there any doubt? wink.gif

Snopes shows stills from the video I watched. I don't think it is an issue now.

When I first saw this thread, I thought it was going to be about that gang of guys that was going around the MD/VA/WV/DC area using a saw and a stolen truck to rip the fronts of ATMs.
