Full Version: Best Place for a Haircut

I think the best place to get a haircut is the old style barber of bakers on Washington Street across from the bookstore. Even though he actually goes to the bookstore himself, he is the cheapest and a good guy to have a conversation with as he is cutting your hair. As long he doesnt wanna meet me across the street like he asked one time he is fine. Very good quality haircut by Mr. Baker and only 4 bucks. I dont understand why so many pay half their rent money on getting a haircut at places, just go to Bakers downtown, he will fix ya up!

If I was Mr. Baker and read your comments here I guarantee the last thing I'd give you was a haircut! Whats with all the slanderous comments?

"Even though he actually goes to the bookstore himself" and " As long he doesnt wanna meet me across the street like he asked one time he is fine"

I'm sure your backhanded compliment would not be appreciated by this guy. If he gives a good haircut just say so! no reason to try and tarnish the guys reputation. I don't even know the guy and I'd trust him a lot quicker than I'd trust you! dry.gif

Why would you trust someone more if they hide things? It may not be appreciated but he should face up to what he does instead of hide things like most. See thats what Im saying, all these people up here come across as being so great and if you only knew what they did in reality youd change your mind about them unless you are guily of the same fronts.

First of all. Everything you say could be total BS! Personally i couldn't give 2 ***** what the guy does on his own time and it shouldn't be your job to tell everyone else about his business! Unless you can prove what you say its all your word and you don't come across as someone i would trust anyway

On another note...

The Razor's Edge has been in business since I can remember. I used to go there as a kid for years and years.

I go to Criss at Bogard's, downtown. Also used to go to Jen at Sagittarius but there is way too much estrogen in that place for me!

I go wherever it's cheap. Seriously. Mostly the Hair Cuttery or someplace like that.

And I only get my haircut about three times a year. Usually right before summer vacation, right before the holidays, and then right before whatever other special event is happening that year (a graduation, wedding, etc.).

I am sooooo lazy when it comes to my hair.

The hair cuttery is expensive too. I usually keep mine real short. Alot of people say I look like a cop lol, im far from that.

I go to Fanfare because I stumbled upon them when I first moved here--and they are reasonable..HH gets his cut every 6 wks...I'm lucky if it is 2-3x per yr...just can't be bothered..

Yea, I'm with your samyO. As long as the barbar is doing his job. Why give a woot, about what he does on his own time. Flipper,I really think, you spend to much time thinking about what everyone else is doing. Why give a rat a$$ ? Come on now get over it. Worry about your life and what your doing. Your be a better person for that. People don't like other people noisying in their business.

To get back on topic, I personally have my sister trim my hair. I haven't went to a Salon in years. I never really found anyone that suit's me. Since my hair down to my waist now, I been thinking about getting it cut. But I'm just too ify about it. Prices of hair cuts are going to go up with time. Prices don't stay the same forever. When you take in account that, they have to pay the utility bills, taxes, rent on the place of business and so on.

Haven't been to a barber in 15 years, used to just let it grow then about 10 years ago I cut it all off been bald ever since. laugh.gif
SMan
My bathroom. $30 for a set of clippers and a hand-held mirror and I'm all set. biggrin.gif

Hubby just loves John the barber, up here on the square in Greencastle. The man has been a barber forever and to watch him cut hair, you would think he was a symphany conductor in another life! Elbows raised high and snips carefully before devouring the hair with the electric razor.

He uses the old fashion techniques and takes about half an hour even though there's not a whole lot of hair left to cut!! laugh.gif

And hubby doesn't need a hair cut for quite awhile after John gets through with him! But, he loves all the attention and fussin'. Says he feels like he's been to a spa!

I can't stand to set foot in the place. It has, probably, never been re-decorated or repainted and has years of yellow nicotine build up all over the walls and curtains. ewwwww. Hubby doesn't notice.

I'm with Sman, except I do it to hubby's hair, not my own! Me, I go a couple times a year. I hate dealing with it, but I'm not ambitious enough to pull a Britney.

Aww liberty they really got you programmed well. Yeah people dont like others being nosy but they sure dont have a problem being that way to me, so how come they can and I cant? You seem so programmed and just go along with so much the government and society invokes. Anyway Im not your enemy so dont be mean to me. Back to topic- I used to go to a haircutting place at Burhans plaza, they did a good job.

Sagittarius. And I'm not telling what I pay. ph34r.gif

It only gets very expensive when you get processes done, like color. Just a shampoo, cut and basic style isn't bad. And with every shampoo you get a bit of aromatherapy and massage. Scalp and shoulders. Lotion and a hot towel on your hands.

My theory is that I'm so incompetent with hair that if I just get a great cut, it should matter less that I don't know what to do with it. But really I just love gettin' ma hair did. I've literally spent hours in there getting colors put in, gloss treatment, shampoo after shampoo. I just love people getting in my hair. It feels good. Relaxing.

If you've seen me lately though, don't think less of Sagittarius for the condition of my hair. They put a lot of angles in my hair last time to where my sides are longer than the back and my bangs are diagonal. Since I'm growing it all out to be long again, it looks kinna odd. tongue.gif

And I'm gonna try my girlfriends hair place next time because I'm paying off my credit card debt right now and need to limit my spending. But my NYC trip is coming up soon so I'll have to indulge big time before that! biggrin.gif

I'm not going to be mean. But I'm going to be blunt and straight to the point. What I post is how I feel about certain things. I have nothing to gain here and nothing to lose. I don't know anyone here personally. If I happen to agree with someone point of view then so be it. I never thought that was a bad thing. But that's how I see it too, why give a rats a$$ what the Barbar does on his own time. It has nothing with me, it has nothing to do with you. Deep down I could careless what the heck other people are doing. When are you going to get that though your thick head. And the only thing, that's program is my computer. I go along with the way I feel about things. I'm starting to see, why you don't have many friends. You reading to much into things and assuming a whole lot. When you don't even know me personally.

You may not be my enemy now, your not far from it.

It does sometimes have something to do with me when he asks me to meet him there when I get my haircut. Liberty if you only knew what I thought about you I tell ya. I thoroughly enjoy reading what you have to say in your responses for one thing. Im glad I came across someone like you, theres not much substance to most of the others here, they are so predictable.

I don't even know the guy and I'd trust him a lot quicker than I'd trust you! dry.gif

Im really getting tired of you samy, lmao. You have become so disinteresting, at first I thought you was fun but lately youve lost it.

laugh.gif Oh look. The psychotic bum is getting tired of me. Please! i wont lose any sleep over that. I got tired of you and your BS about 2 weeks ago after your first post. You add absolutely NOTHING to any conversation. You get on here and start talking $hit about people who aren't on here to defend themselves and i think 95% of what you say is crap anyway. You might con a couple people into feeling sorry for you but i'm not buying the poor old Flip BS. Get a life!
