Pete Rose revealed Wednesday that he bet on the Reds "every night" while he was manager of the team and that the Dowd Report was correct when it said he did so.

Rose spoke Wednesday with Dan Patrick and Keith Olbermann on ESPN Radio to discuss the new Pete Rose exhibit that will be on display at the Great American Ballpark as part of the Reds Hall of Fame. The exhibit will be on display for 11 months.

"I bet on my team every night. I didn't bet on my team four nights a week. I was wrong," Rose said.

Rose said that he believed in his team so much that he bet on them to win every night.

BS, Pete. No gambler, no matter how degenerate bets the same team every night.

What's the bigger sin in baseball: gambling or steroids? It appears that as long as Bud Selig is the commish, it's gambling.

Some gamblers play the same lottery numbers every night. tongue.gif

Gambling is the bigger "sin" since a manager or player can manipulate the outcome of a game - to lose it -

The use of steroids is supposedly to give players a "winning edge" not ethical or healthy but they are unlikely to throw games to win a bet.

When a player makes an error, or strikes out or walks the opposing side to load the bases, it's important to know that it's because the player is a klutz or needs glasses or can't see the plate for the trees, rather than that the player has an interest in the other team winning.

Neither gambling nor steroids is good for any sport.

I agree, Monk. Even if you bet your team to win and you're the manager, you can still affect the outcome to the detriment of the team. Maybe push a player a little harder or longer to get the win, which makes them more fatigued or injury-prone for the next game. I still say no way he bet every game.

That's why he said he bet every game for the win, it's the safest thing you can say and still admit to betting.

Wow, I agree with everything Monk said.

I think Pete Rose should just give up, banned for life is just that and should definitely include the Hall of Fame.
