Full Version: Gripe About Your Job

Anyone want to gripe about their daily grind?

After taking on a boatload of extra responsibility--and doing a bang-up job--I just got my annual performance review. I was expecting a nice raise.

Instead, I got offered a piddly sum.

After taxes, it amounts to diddly-squat per paycheck.

I don't know whether to scream or cry.

I am thinking about quitting. Unfortunately, DH and I need my income if we want to continue to live under a roof.

These are the days that I pray "Please, God... let some book publisher want my book and then turn it into a Brad Pitt blockbuster movie."

Anyone else got a work gripe?

No Gripes about my boss, since I am the boss. Really no gripes about my customers. I meant some wonderful people thru the years. Some try to get a little more work out of me, then what they pay for. Most of the time, I don't mine. There are just a few that tend to go over board, but not many. I love my job, the best thing I could have did for myself. But, I just don't like getting up early in the morning. I'm just not a morning person at all. smile.gif

That's E as in Elephant. N as in Nancy.

"You don't fly planes, do you?"

No I don't.

"E as in Echo and N as in November. Heh. You would NOT be in good shape if you said E as in Elephant if you were in a plane."

I freaked out the FBI when they asked me to spell my name, and I started rattling it off like a pilot! laugh.gif

I can't complain about my job too much. Yoss might report me!

But I would really like it if people would bathe.

I think I have worked for one of the brightest people in the world for the last 9 years and am always fascinated when the next discovery is announced. Or when I see him on TV. That said, my immediate co-workers and team drive me nuts sometime but I guess there is always going to be 1 or 2 people no matter where you are. I guess it could always be worse but as long as my check goes into my account every other week I'll keep showing up.

My job itself causes no stress. My problem is with the people I have to work with. blink.gif

I LOVE my job! As y'all know i work for the SPCA. I do see alot of bad things but the good over rides the bad.

I've had a really rough year with all the changes on my job. And the Medicare Part D problems galore. But, yesterday, I got an employee recognition and gift for all my hard work. That made my day! I ususally get clients coming in to yell at me that something went wrong. And I have to fix it all. So, nice to get some thanks.

But let's face it--when the bills come in, a job is a good thing to have..even a lousy one...been on both sides...like working better $$$ wink.gif

Hired to do one job, boss admitted it is a FT job all by itself and many people can't handle it at that. I did it better than it had been done in awhile in about 42 hours a week and earned myself a nice raise and a bonus, but then came the new top dog who implemented cuts across the board and now I have way too much for one person to handle as do many of my co-workers. Word is the new guy will collect a nice fat bonus of 6-7 figures and move on shortly. Grrrrrrrr.....

I'm loving my current job. Great pay, most I've ever made at any job. Great people to work with and to work for. Of course there are some minor bad things, but all things considered, it's great.

My last job I could have filled the whole forum's server up with gripes, but that's all in the pass (uh, past... lol).

Boss took me to Duffy's today. We are in search of a new Used Car Manager. I knew one of two things would happen.......
get the job, or be told that I wasn't getting it.
He told me he really appreciated the help in training him, but that they were bringing back a person who has quit on the 3 times as a manager of some sort. Finance, usually.
I told him that was fine. I actually like her, but she will last about 4 months which is her usual M.O..
Felt sorry for myself for a while, but I'm better now.
I did tell him that I don't care if it takes 4 hours to work a deal, I will not help her.
I am tired of training managers for a position that should definitely be mine.
So, it's back in tomorrow, cleaning off cars, moving the lot, plowing the lot and getting it back in shape for sales.
I gotta find something else to do wacko.gif

As most of you know, I'm working at home now taking care of my Dad whose 86. This is the best job ever! My main difficulty though is getting organized. I've always had a hard time with organization, but with my Dad moving in with us along with my son, appointment scheduling for my Dad's doctors and my son's school, etc., it's been tough! I think the problem is as with most people that work at home, where to divide the work/home line? But then again, my work involves my Dad! wacko.gif

My biggest problem over the last few weeks (along with organization) is trying to please everyone, and assure them they're not a burden. Is that part of my job? Who wrote my job description any way??? tongue.gif

I stopped my commuting in January and feel great. I am working at home as a contractor for a tech company. I am thrilled to be off the road. My family and I are very happy.

We love this area. Hagerstown and the surrounding counties are beautiful. Now I can enjoy it. I hope others in my family can eventually cut back on their commutes. If they had the choice, they would be working close by.

Last year I could gripe, so that part is on topic. Currently, I am gripe-free. It is now quite pleasant getting to work. biggrin.gif

Pretty gutsy of you to publicly complain like that, Mr. Mayor. ohmy.gif Sure the Boss or new hire doesn't visit here???? huh.gif

BTW - you need a new used car manager. Visited your dealership back in June-July. There were 4 seedy looking guys standing around smoking and eyeing up the customers. Eventually one came over to greet us. It just struck my wife and I as unprofessional.

Mayor--I have never 'returned' to a job after I quit. I would not have the cajones to request to be 'rehired'. Or is there something I am missing? Why would any manager hire someone again after being burned 2x? Guess he likes the upheaval the quitting causes. Time to look for a new occupation.

Commonplace in the auto sales arena.

I scratch my head and wonder what it is that our GM can be thinking. She has no used car experience, let alone managing our bunch of sales people here.

Oh well, like you said. Time to look.

I suggest a run for governor! Benefits are killer and its probably easier than running Hagerstown and selling Ford Focuses in your spare time.

Party at the governors mansion!!! biggrin.gif

Don't feel bad Bob you probably didn't get the managers job because they know they would never be able to find a better Lot Boy.

Mayor--sorry, didn't know that about the car sales industry. In my type of job no one comes back to their old employer unless they left, worked for someone else and then return a big shot...(which of course makes everyone cringe and makes a lie out of the 'we promote from within' crap)....

Anyway I digress. You should find a new career...or a new employer..try the one of the other giant messy car lots in the area...heck, it is one industry H-town seems to love... laugh.gif

Someone with no experience, shouldn't have been hired, period. I know, I wouldn't hired someone, that didn't have a clue to what they was doing. I sure wouldn't hired someone back that quits, when they get tired of their job. Then want to come back later. That's not at all a dependable person.
