Seriously... seems to be an awful lot of Asian restaurants coming into H-town.

I believe that most towns can support an assortment of Chinese restaurants... but these are more specialized.

There's another Japanese steakhouse coming out by the mall (direct competition for Sakura) in the Martin's shopping center.

The old Applebee's has a sign that says it'll be an Asian restaurant, too.

And I saw a sign in the Fountainhead Plaza that a Thai restaurant was opening.

Personally, I love almost all types of Asian food (except Korean). But I'm not sure H-town can really support all these restaurants.

On the other hand, the last few times I've been at Sakura the place has been booked! (Ah... I remember the days of "no wait" at Sakura.) Is there still a line on weekends at Kobe? Or has business slowed there? I guess if Sakura AND Kobe are booked on weekends, there might be room for another Japanese restaurant.

Ohhhh boy! I sure hope this it true!

Here are some of my favorites for Thai food....

Satay - (appetizer) Pork or beef kabob. Dipped in peanut sauce.

Spring rolls - (appetizer) shrimp and rice noodles and veggies in a paper thin rice wrapping. Good dipped in "fish" sauce. (It now really fish, more like a tart vinegary dressing.)

A wonderful soup (can't remember what it is called) but the base is coconut milk (can't taste coconut flavor though) with chicken and lemongrass. This is my favorite soup of all.

And, of course, Pad Thai. So yummy. Rice noodles with shrimp, chicken, or even tofu with veggies and chopped peanuts on top. I have to have this each time we have gone to a Thai restaurant. It's delicious.

I would suggest to never order anything "hot" as in spicy! Thai cooking can be extremely hot. Hubby and I made that mistake once in VA beach. We could not eat it. Felt like eating fire! ha. Stick with mild.

And you have to try the Thai tea (iced). It is like a dessert by itself. It's a pretty coral color and very sweet.

Your taste buds will do jumping jacks!

My daughter turns 21 today. She is having a party on Sunday but wants to go out w/ Mom & Dad tonight after work. She wants to know what you think about some of the current Chinese or Asian dining establishments. Since we have to wait until after work, we need a place in Hagerstown, or close by.

I really like Nikko's. It's the japanese place in the Lowes shopping center. They also have the Hibachi - where they cook in front of you. Love that place.

Thanks, I was hoping to get a current feel for some places. So many come and go. Some start out ok and then you hear bad reviews. I will probably go w/ Nikkos.

Ha--too funny about "Harry Potter!" We had him last time we were there, and I thought he was just yankin' our chain--had no idea that's the name he uses all the time! laugh.gif
