Grand opening is today, just had lunch there. The menu is almost all Mexican, pretty good selection.
I got a beef burrito, came with refried beans and rice. The beef wasn't ground beef, it was real chunks of beef. Also liked the chips and salsa... the salsa was mildy hot (I like mine hot). I was with 4 other people and everyone liked what they had.. the food looked like it was prepared well. Prices were comparable to El Ranchero and El Paso.
I just wished they would've redecorated the place... I hated the colors of Michelle's in the first place. Other than that, no complaints!
If you are bored of El Paso and don't want to eat rat meat at El Ranchero, check this place out and help another new business owner get started downtown!

Where's this place at? My lunch crew has Mexican in their weekly rotation and I usually leave the bag lunch in the fridge to tag along on those day. Maybe I can talk them into trying this over Ranchero.
Speaking of Mexican food, last weekend I had fajitas at Vince's Pizza on Virginia Av. and they were head and shoulders over any I've gotten at El Paso or El Ranchero (which I like both).

I'm thinking Michelles was in the unit blk S Potomac St just south of the Fire House, same side of the street.
I ate at Il Castello(?) up in State Line over the weekend, had their stuffed manicotti, very good by the way, but they brought out a plate of beef fajitas for another customer and they smelled sooooo good.... that's what I'm getting next time there.

How can you get tired of El Paso???? This Saturday they gave complimentary Margaritas and beer out. Then they charged $1.99 for 23 oz margaritas. Boy was I drunk.
Food was ok also.

It's in the first block of E. Washington St., right over the square. The sign still says Michelle's, but they have a Durango banner on the front.

No, it's up closer to the Rhubarb House and the square in that building that rotates restaurants through it annually.

I tried today, but they weren't open yet when I arrived to eat. I ended up at the El Paso.

I ate there last night with my wife and 8 yr old daughter...
It is the old Michelle's restaurant.
I could not have been more please with the food or the service...
The waitress was fantastic and knew the menu and what was on it...
The menu has not only the standard Mexican fare, but apparently better made than in most Mexican restaurants. It also has a good Spanish menu and a Vegetarian version of the Mexican fare.
My wife opted for the Chicken Chimichanga platter and was very pleased.
I ordered the Paella de Maresca (sp)... which I could not finish... it was fantastic... loaded with seafood and done to perfection.
My daughter ordered from the children's menu and had the nachos with beef. They were good and the beef was not the typical chopped taco beef, but good shredded beef. Unfortunately, they contained refried beans which my daughter does not like... so I gave some of the shrimp out of my dish and asked for a flour tortilla for her to make her own "burritto".... They did offer to remake her dinner, but she was happy with the shrimp and I will eat the nachos later today...
The children's menu included desert also.... a decent size bowl of good ice cream with nuts and whipped cream....
I will definitely be going back again.... the menu is so varied it may become our standard Mexican restaurant. The service was the best I have seen in a restaurant in our area in a long time.... and the price was good...
We had two appetizers, 3 dinners, drinks and I had coffee after the meal and it came to $49.00 and worth every penny of it.

At there for lunch on Sunday (after I got rained on at the Blues Fest!).
HUGE menu with wide variety. Quality of food was excellent. I went with three other folks... we ordered a boatload of food. Everyone was pleased with their meals... although I was a little disconcerted by the squid legs in DH's soup.
Service was slow, but the menu items are made-to-order, so we didn't mind the slow kitchen service. Our waitress was pleasant, but I couldn't help but wondering if she was a newbie to the biz. A few times, as she delivered our drinks, I thought her tray was going to tip. It also took her a while to write down our orders. She was definitely not a seasoned server, I think.
We all agreed that a return trip was definitely in order.
As for the decor, I kinda liked it. I hate those air-brushed women with the huge, uh, upper torsos that are featured on El Paso's walls.

Went with the girlfriend over the weekend. Half of the reason I go to Mexican restaurants is the margaritas, and I was slightly disappointed to see that they only had two varieties of them: 'regular' and 'cadillac.' I didn't care for the regular - for a $7 drink (I think that's about right) it tasted awfully cheap. So I tried the cadillac and it was well worth the $1 extra. It was the same as the regular only with grand marnier.
As for the food...the chips and salsa were excellent, but the complimentary bread had obviously been frozen and couldn't have been more bland. I didn't care for the Tijuana shrimp, but the GF liked them a lot. We were both very satisfied with our entrees. I had the carne asada (which is even better when you spread some of their delicious guacamole on it), and she had something with chicken in it. Sorry I can't remember exactly what - at this point I was on my third margarita.

I'll be going back tomorrow evening to give it another chance; they have an absolutely gigantic menu, and I'm sure that the more I explore the more I'll find to like.
Finally, I have to add that the experience would have been infinitely more pleasant had a young couple opted to not bring their toddler along to dinner with them. This isn't the Golden Corral; it's a higher-end, fairly expensive restaurant. This little girl was adorable, but she obviously didn't want to be there and she let the entire restaurant know it - at one point screaming so loudly that things literally began to fall down around her. So please, if you have a toddler who won't enjoy being in a quiet restaurant for more than an hour, find a babysitter!

I finally went to Durangos for lunch one day last week. In my burrito, I found a 3 inch chicken bone and a large chunk of plastic wrap. Not what I was expecting.
The thing is, up until that point, I was enjoying it. The salsa was excellent and the chips were lighter and less greasy than my usual tex-mex places. The burrito was quite tasty until I started pulling trash out of it. But out of principle, I can't ever go back or recommend it to anybody.

I was in a party of about 10 people, so I'm sure they will be spreading similar reviews.

Went there the Saturday before Christmas and loved it. Great steak and my friend liked the choice of spanish dishes. I am going back.
