Washington County Ag Expo and Fair scheduled July 20-27


SHAROPSBURG, Md. - Washington County Ag Expo and Fair will be held July 20 - 27 at the Washington County Agricultural Education Center, located on the Sharpsburg Pike, Route 65, seven miles south of Hagerstown, Md.

Ag Expo features the 4-H and FFAyouth of Washington County and their projects, as well as agricultural and home arts exhibits. This is an affair for the whole family to see and learn what it takes to produce these products.

The fair opens on Friday, July 20, with the 4-H/FFA Cake Auction at 5 p.m., the Ag Expo and Fair Queen contest at 6 p.m. and the 4-H Fashion Revue at 6:30 p.m.

Come see the cowboys tangle with the bulls as Circle B Cattle Co presents Bull Riding on Friday, July 20, 7:30 p.m., at the track.

Saturday, July 21, is Washington County Farm Bureau day featuring events sponsored by Farm Bureau.

The Antique Tractor Pull, sponsored by the Washington County Antique Tractor Club and Skidloader Rodeo, sponsored by Landmark Equipment, LLC, Antietam Tractor and Valley Supply will be held Saturday, July 21, at noon. The Skidloader

The pedal tractor pull for ages 5 - 9 will be Saturday, 5 p.m. Registration will be 4:30 p.m. in the main show ring. Prizes will be awarded.

The Youth Tractor Pull begins at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday with two classes; tractors under 100 hp and maximum weight of 11,500 pounds and tractors over 100 hp and maximum weight of 15,000 pounds. There is no entry fee. Cash prizes are awarded.

Sunday, July 22, will feature the Garden Tractor Pull at 9 a.m. All drivers must be 8 years or older. For rules and additional information, contact Doug Diehl at 301-824-3511.

A Classic Car Show by the Mason-Dixon Antique Automobile Club begins at 2:00 p.m. To be an antique, the vehicle must be 25 years or older. In past years, there has been a nice selection of cars to view. Anyone who wishes to display his or her antique car is welcome to participant.

Karaoke by DVK Entertainment will begin at 4 p.m. on Sunday, July 22, at the track. Registration will be at 3:30 p.m. with a $10 registration fee. The town of

A Dairy Promotion will be at 6:30 p.m., Sunday, in the main show ring. There will be free ice cream, milk and cheese and prizes.

Hillbilly girl and recording artist Tori Anderson and Possum Holler will perform on Monday, 7:30 p.m., at the track

Admission is $5 all day and this is Senior Citizen Day. Admission is free until 5 p.m. for those 65 years of age and older.

July 25 and 26 will find the Washington County Tractor Pullers at the Grandstand area for a Tractor and Truck Pull beginning at 7:00 p.m. Special feature for Wednesday night will be Hot Rod Semi-trucks. These powerhouse semi-trucks produce ground-shaking thunder you won't want to miss. Six of the biggest names on the East coast will be pulling. Thursday night will feature Hot Stock Semitrucks. Admission is $5, 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. and $10 after 3 p.m.

Also, during the week there will be Monster Truck Rides by Love Shine Agency, Inc. and sponsored by Edge Motorsports. Rides will cost an additional $5 each.

The fair week will conclude with the 4-H/FFA Market Sale on Friday, July 27, at 6 p.m

The last several years I went to the tractor pull Thursday night. Wish I could go to browse around but I rarely get home till 6 pm. The Ag Expo is a good thing for the area.

I love farmers and agricultural things. Hey Snoopy are there alot of animals that you can get close to and interact with at the fair?
