Man vs Wild>Survivorman???
I'm really beginning to wonder...
I have had people say that they have seen Bear wearing safety harness/ropes when climbing. I do not notice this but will keep a eye open for it. It cracks me up the way Bear says vitamin C. And that damn Bear can snare a rabbit/grouse with a shoe string way too easy...I'm begining to think Man vs Wild is more entertainment.
Les is a one man show but really seems to be pissed he's the only one out there.
In the end I have learned alot from both shows and will keep watching them both.

Hubby got me watching both of them.
Great show.
Nothing like a guy who hasn't bathed in a week to bring out the "wild" in me.
Seriously though, that's GOT to be rigged. The show's insurance must be astronomical.

There has been some buzz lately that Man vs. Wild is being at least partially staged, with him sleeping in hotels instead of the wild.

I love watching Man vs. Wild though. I laugh like crazy everytime he says water. Sometimes count how many times, it is like the most common word he says, hialrious but damn when he drinks his urine and bites ehads off spiders that really is disgusting.

The thing that I have noticed in Man vs. Wild is that Bear is tough and fit and I don't thing the majority of the people that get lost are going to be physically able to do half the things he does.
I do like both shows though.

Agree with Udmas, a very marginal amount of individuals in any society are going to be fit anough to accomplish the same tasks, especially in the time necessary to overcome the same level of obstacles.
As for it being staged, of course some of it has to be, but so was soem of Steve Irwins events for obvious safety and entertainment reasons. Beyond that, I don;t think anyone can discount the fact of him hanging 60' in a tree, drinking his own piss, jumping in freezing water, wearing his undewear on his head, swimming across aligator swamps, starting a fire with two sticks, etc...
The real fact is, above not being physically fit to get out of such trouble, I would like to think of it sort of like that movie with Alec Baldwin and Athony Hopkins, where the least fit man survived becauase of his level of intelligence to do so, not his physical ability. I think this is why so many posters on this thread all agree that learning how to seems to be the biggest benefit of watching the show, regardless of how much is for entertainment purposes.
Survivor man is just a weak carbon copy of Man vs. Wild.

I'm fine with some if it being staged for learning purposes. Just don't try to pass it off as if it's not.

O.K. now you are stepping over the line, Man vs. Wild is great, much better than Complainerman. So the crew got a little help here and there, they note that in the beginning diclaimer for each show. Most every show on tv is to dome degree fake, thus the entertainment appeal, but unlike Bear's attempt to educate, most other shows are merely "hampburgers for the brain", say...American Idol for instance.
