The two-games-too-long NFL preseason is underway. It was only the first game so I'll limit myself to one comment.
Romo looked sharp. w00t!
Ok, two comments. Romo isn't the holder this year. w00t! w00t!

I am going to Westminster tomorrow to Ravens camp! I hope I can get to meet Chris McAlister. I met Ray last year. him, McNair and the coach. I think we will lose our first game but then go on a roll and win at least the next 6 in a row.
Maybe Romo will be handing off to Carrie this season, thats good for some wins, the defenses will definitely tackle her but I doubt they get up off her. Im sorry man but the Cowboys and Steelers are my 2 worst teams.
I think this the year finally for the Purple Bowl Raves-Vikes! HaHa I say that every year. The only team im really worried much about is the Patriots and maybe the Bengals as far as us losing., Im so tired of them though-patriots.

Not a Steelers fan, but apparently they have all of the Steelers SB trophies on display up there this month in honor of the team's 75th anniversary. What's up with their ridiculous, new mascot? They made it 75 years without one, but now feel the need to add one?

If Wade Phillips doesn't work out with the Cowboys this year, I think Jerry Jones is going to take a run at Cowher next year when he is available again.

my husband likes the vikings, and i must say, they don't look too bad this year...( not as good as my 'burghies though!) we are fortunate enough to have nfl network, so we have some sort of football on 24/7 and have been able to see alot of the camps.... its gonna be a good season, boys! i cant believe the patriots got randy moss! granted, he wasn't so hot for the raiders, but when he was with the vikings, he and culpepper dominated...

Steely McBeam reminds me way too much of Purdue Pete and his dorky lame (but fun) sidekick, Rowdy.

Cant wait to get things going tonight! Im interested in the 3rd string QB battle. Troy Smith vs Drew Olson-UCLA. Olson is still listed 3rd on depth chart but Troy has a slight edge in performance and of course his Heisman. I mainly like seeing the new players in preseason. I got to meet Marshal Yanda the 3rd rounder, he looks like a young farmboy which he is from Iowa. Yamon Figurs-Kansas St. 2nd round pick looked real good too. That Jared Gaither guy we got from Maryland is humongous in person. The other new guy who has been very impressive has been Prescott Burgess from Michigan. Watch out for Antwan Barnes-Florida Int'l too. He is gonna be a good replacement for Adalius Thomas one day but I will miss AD.

- The Redskins' D looks stout. The offense, not so much.
- Is every freakin' Steelers game on national tv?

Everett played for the college team I follow, so I kinda knew who he was before this. This gave me a little extra pause when I first heard about it. I hope he walks again.
I heard on the radio this morning that they used some experimental treatment on him that involved injecting ice cold saline solution into his body to "slow things down" and prevent further damage. Science is amazing.
As for the Cowboys, it's been a long, long time since one of my teams has had that kind of offensive firepower and used it so seemingly effortlessly. The defensive, on the other hand, was offensive. In the last year, Roy Williams went from being a feared, respected, big hitter to being exposed as a laughing stock and possibly one of the worst cover safeties in the league. Where was the pass rush?!

One of the worst safeties in the league?????? You're kidding me, right?
You're right about the offense though, they're clicking. That offensive line is awesome. If they stay healthy the 'Boys are gonna win a lotta games. I love the way Phillips is using Jones and Barber. Parcells used Barber a lot on 3rd downs and short yardage. Phillips seems to give them each 2 consecutive series. I like that better, they each get an extended shot at moving the team. It seems to be working.

Re-read, Id. Worst cover safety. Meaning he can't cover worth a damn. Look at this year's Giants game. Look at the last half dozen games last season where the D gave up too many huge plays to count. He can still come up and make plays at the line of scrimmage, but I seriously think he's dropped from being an elite safety in the league. And I think you'd be hard pressed to find an NFL talking head (that isn't a Dallas homer) that wouldn't agree with.

Sorry, I missed the cover part. But as far as I'm concerned the talking heads don't know sh!t. Four consecutive pro bowls... consistently leads the team in interceptions... and he gets them at crucial times... doesn't miss many tackles... disguises the blitz well... tackles well... there aren't more than a handful in the league that are better IMO, but what do I know?
He's probably gonna play even more up on the line with Phillips' style 3-4.
But why are we arguing? We're 2 and 0. Go Cowboys!

Sunday at the Bears is a huge early season game. It should establish the head of the pack in the NFC. Too bad the best in the NFC is still only about the fourth best in the NFL.

Or maybe they thought he wasn't home. They knew he loved guns and probably owns a bunch. Maybe they thought they could steal his guns.
Also, I don't think he was shot in the leg. They are reporting that he is in critical condition and that he was shot in the "lower extremities". One of the Redskins officials stated that it was "not good".
I get the impression that this is a lot more serious then being shot in the leg.

A femoral artery hit would be a very significant "lower extremity" injury.
