Idiot
This is the best youtube clip I've ever seen. A pride of lions attack and capture a buffalo calf at a watering hole, a crocodile tries to take it away from them, they get it back, and then the whole herd of buffalo come back and rescue it, goring one of the lions into the air in the process. It's incredible.

I almost posted this exact video yesterday. I didn't know if folks would have the patience to sit through all 8 minutes to hit all the good parts. I almost didn't, but it's worth it.

I had no idea that buffalo would do such a thing. I assumed they were just another of the rabble of nature's food chain victims that always chose flight instead of fight.

Awesome!

What a bunch of pussies. laugh.gif

I can't believe I'm going to watch it...
Heather
Wow.

I didn't cry till the baby got up! Can't believe there was a crocodile too.

Didn't know who to root for.

Of course I rooted for the baby and the buffalo.

Why can't we all be vegetarians. sad.gif

That was horrible.
SMan
If we were all vegetarians, the population of animals would explode and they would die a slow, agonizing death from starvation because there would't be enough vegetation to feed everthing. Or was that a rhetorical question? wink.gif

I had the same thought, that's why I gave a little description. See, advertising works! laugh.gif

I've seen other clips of buffalo defending their own but that one was the best. I don't know if they're different in that aspect than other animals or if it's just a case of being capable of winning the fight. It was interesting that even though the entire herd showed up only a few were aggressive, but the lions couldn't risk ignoring the others. And as soon as the baby was free it disappeared into the herd, there was no way the lions could go after it.

Cape buff are one of the meanest, nastiest, most bad-tempered beasts around, and they have the bulk to back it up!

Sort of like Rosie O'Donnell...

We can make it work! We'll feed them politicians. They aren't really human anyway.
