so, now that the guy in charge of the mine said that they arent going back in the mine for any reason ( though they are going to bore one more hole??) he wants to make it clear that it was the concious fault of the mountain, and certainly not his company, that things went so wrong...

"Had I known that this evil mountain, this alive mountain, would do what it did, I would never have sent the miners in here," Murray said earlier. "I'll never go near that mountain again."

Either way, its a dangerous job and those miners knew it.
The PA miners that were rescued back in 2002 said it best when they said they were either retiring or finding knew careers after they had been trapped.

Dangerous, yes, but many jobs we need done are dangerous. We need to do everything reasonable to rescue those people. That may have been done in this case.

Yes, mining is an inherently dangerous operation, but, from what I have read about him, the owner is a total tool. They ought to dig one more hole in that mountain and stick him in it before they give up.

Right, I'm not making excuses for the owner... of course he's going to try to cover his own ass. Just sayin', its a dangerous job, that's all.

Just to be clear, my comment was not aimed at you, Coma. That owner just rubs me the wrong way. I'm normally pretty sympathetic to the companies when accidents happen because there seems to be a preconception these days that business owners want their employees to suffer (physically, mentally, financially, etc.) and I think that is laughable considering what a litigious society we live in. This guy deserves anything they can stick him with IMHO.

It's time to seal the mine and put up the tombstones.

The owner has always come off as a little abrasive and a tiny bit whacked during press conferences, but I haven't seen anything that makes me think he needs shoved in a hole. And it probably wasn't his company's fault. Didn't they say there had been seismic activity that caused the collapse?
Can you even imagine being wedged in between a bunch of collapsed rocks for days/weeks? If they survived the collapse, what a horrid way to die.
