holy crap... i'm gonna check ebay

That must have been from the 60's. The way the kids are dress.

That's pretty neat, now that would sell today. Kids would love that.
Yossarian
There's no way you could market that today. The Consumer Product Safety Commission would be all over it. The potential for pinched fingers, broken bones, accidents is written all over this thing.

It is pretty cool though.

Those contraptions belong in a Rob Zombie horror movie. The first picture looks like the little girl is getting ready to have her fingers sliced off. The one above looks like it dumps kids into a black hole at the bottom. laugh.gif

"Squaris Wheel Scares: tonight at five"
Mcgee
I have an old news paper from 1777 New York, Harper News paper.

It has an advertisment for skates. They are call parlor skates. But they are really inline skates like todays kind.
Well that shoots the idea of new skates. Even has a picture of them.

Do share the pic if you can. Love to see it. smile.gif

Sweetliberty,
Sorry, The paper is to old to pick up anymore. I have it in a frame. They look like the one they have today.

This is proof that extraterrestial aliens have visited us and shared their technology.

OMG! We had the coolest toys back before all the safety commissions ruined everything laugh.gif !

Actually, I never had either of those things but my next door neighbors had something we called "The Strides." It was a huge pole stuck in the ground with chains hanging down that had 3 handle bars. The top of the bar would twirl and we'd run & swing around in circles while dangling from the handles! Sometimes the dad would boost us up in the air and literally throw us around!

Sounds dangerous, doesn't it? Especially when we'd fall off and the chains and bars would hit us in the head! laugh.gif Awesome biggrin.gif
wildblue
Ah, the good old days. I can remember when some playgrounds still had the heavy wooden swings. You'd fall off one of those suckers and get clunked so hard in the head with the seat, you'd see stars. Good times... laugh.gif

I remember spinning on the merrygo round thing until you threw up--love'd it..never see those anymore in the yards...

Hey, you're right! Those were always my favorite things at the park to play on!
christine_dixon
know what else was a bad idea? tetherball....

i had all sorts of edangerous toys as a kid... pogoballs... that basketball with a disk around it that you were supposed to hole between your feet and bounce... skip it... that thing could take out 6 kids in one fell swoop... moon shoes...

and what were those little seat thingers on wheels...and you like, wiggled the handlebars back and forth... and you went [sort of] forward... no brakes etc? anyone remember?

edit: a ROLLER RACER!!!!
Mcgee
I still have a pair of ice skates that you can put on your shoes.

We use to take the old metal roller skates apart and put the wheels on a 2x6 board with a box on the front to make a racer out of it. WOW wish I could do it all over again.
