Wasn't a similar incident the beginning of the end of Canada's major presence over there a year or so ago?

When I served in Viet Nam (3 tours) there were more than one instance of what was called "friendly fire"... my unit was under fire from a South Vietnam unit on more than one instance and from an Australian unit on another....
Yes, mistakes are made... the military is not perfect and mistakes can and are made by allies in a conflict. It does not make it right, but it happens... it is part of the process of war.. it has been documented since wars have been reported.
I feel sorry for the loss of life of our allies, but I have seen it up close and personal and know mistake happen...
You're missing the point. It's not that we don't believe mistakes don't/won't happen, it's just that they wouldn't happen if we weren't over there.
