Check this article out for those of you who haven't seen it already http://www.herald-mail.com/?module=display...039&format=html.

It says how Martinsburg Councilman Anderson is advising residents to get satilite after Adelphia plans to raise rates again.

This is pretty funny! Its about time. The only thing as sure to go up as the cable rate is the cost of helath insurance and taxes!

After all the trouble that all my friends talk about with cable I'm glad I switched to Dish back in 2000.

I saw that article and got a chuckle out of it. I liked it when Councilman Anderson invited the Adelphia guy over to his house to check out his Satellite Dish after he gets it installed. biggrin.gif

Yeah, I wonder how many people in Martinsburg have switched. I heard on tv where Charter Communications lost 300,000 people to satilite just this year because of cable hikes and poor service.

I don't pay for cable. I have MPT, PAX, and NBC25. Believe it or not, I'm content, especially after pondering how much money I save. I've found that having three channels of free TV is a blessing in more ways than just saving money. Instead of flipping through channels in a trance, I read more and generally get more done. Besides, I've learned to like Wheel of Fortune (since when do they automatically give you RSTLNE on the last grand prize puzzle??!?!), Jeopardy, and other shows I never wanted to watch before. It makes me think of how we spoil ourselves and complain about things we don't need.

I would miss watching the reruns on Nick-At-Nite (scary that those shows were on when I was alive), and the O'Reilly Factor if I didn't have dish. For most of my entertainment and news though I rely on the big three. I think maybe if we didn't have cable or dish though that as a society we wouldn't be as lazy because as you said Heather you only get three channels.
