Teen trades hacked iphone for new 350z and more...

Start the countdown until AT&T's lawyers come knocking on the doors of this kid and the guy that gave him the car.

I read an article the other day that said he didn't do anything illegal.

It did say that Apple will probably change some things on the phone with the next release.

AT&T paid BIG money to Apple to have exclusive use of the iphone on their network for 2 years. They aren't going to allow this without at least trying some legal scare tactics.

There is apparently no U.S. law against unlocking cell phones. Last year, the Library of Congress specifically excluded cell-phone unlocking from coverage under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act. Among other things, the law has been used to prosecute people who modify game consoles to play a wider variety of games.

Not saying it's illegal. I'm saying they are going to argue that it is and use various strong arm moves in a futile effort to stop this. Wouldn't you if you were AT&T?
Udmas
I'm sure they will. Apple and AT&T are probably working on their plan of attack as we speak.

I don't think there's any electronic device out there that can't be hacked, despite all the efforts to the contrary. There's whole cults of people who devote their lives to hakz and crakz. It's a challenge.
