Thank you for posting this, I too have been appalled by the allegations, criminal behavior and trauma to generations of children that will grow up into dysfunctional adults. Wow.
I worked for the Dept of Social Services in the Southwest, while I had no contact with groups like the FLDS, the stories I heard were quite raw. Sadly, that was in the early 90's. This has bee a hot button issue out West. The hero in this is the lone retired cop who was hired by the prosecutor as the lead investigator. He hung in and over a few years gathered evidence, despite threats against his family and himself.
These children will grow up with a world view where incest, domination, and abuse is a valid lifestyle. A way of life they may plan to pass onto their children. There are stories of the lost boys who are abandoned at age 14-18, because there are not enough girls to be matched to them. The older guys get first dibs. These young boys come out with no education, physically abused, and penniless. Sure they are free but what kind of life do they have? The impact on neighboring communities is huge, they have to provide rehab and support for these at-risk youth. Sadly, some of these lost boys turn to alcohol and substance abuse. This is a very sad story. The FLDS is not a religion but a sick cult, it is very different from today's Mormon Church.
Hello, Mr Jeffs, Child abuse is wrong.....News is that Mr Jeffs plans to mount an appeal.....Thanks CD, great post in my book.

I think it's a pretty bizarre coincidence that this case and the testimony of this girl (who is all grown up now) is very similar to the plot line on the season of HBO's "Big Love" which just ended a few weeks ago. On the show, a pretty teenage girl was "pinned" to the Prophet at age 14, and their marriage was imminent; then she ran away and told her story to the media. When I heard about the real-life situation, the parallels are downright spooky. After reading articles about Warren Jeffs it's evident that the HBO writers portrayed the FLDS pretty accurately. What a screwed up segment of society...
