ok. everyone has handy little shortcuts, moneysavers, stain removers, and bee sting remedies. POST 'EM.
for example: when i mop my floor, i stick a plain old rag on my Clorox Readymop. saves money on those pad thingers, and it can go right in the washer.
also, i unclog drains with alkaseltzer and pepsi.... drop two- four tabs in the clogged drain... pour in some pepsi... plug the drain... after you can tell it's fizzing, let it go for a minute and then run hot water down it. usually works pretty well.

For clogged drains, I find that pouring diet coke in the drain and then dropping in a half dozen Mentos brand mints works even better.

OMG, the alkaseltzer and Pepsi is so cool. Sorry for the excitement, yes I have a life. I also have clogged drains.

Seriously, Yoss, does that actually work? I've seen videos online of what happens when you mix mentos w/ diet coke and it's dramatic to say the very least. Perhaps you have cathedral ceilings in your bathroom.

Here's my little helpful hint: when you need to measure out peanut butter for a recipe, spray your little plastic measuring cup with Pam first. Then your peanut butter falls smoothly out of the cup and you get it all, without having to scrape down the sides.
peanut butter cookies, aaaaarrrmgh <head falls back and tongue lolls out, a la Homer Simpson>

I'm here to say that it does work. We tried it in the back yard of a friend of mine last summer. Once you drop the Mentos in the coke, it's an instant geyser--lookout! (*For the record, I'm a grown woman

I'll bet! I've seen the videos of this on YouTube and it looks extremely messy. I just didn't know if Yoss was joking around when he said that it actually works for clogged drains. Seems like the cure might be worse than the affliction if I end up with sticky soda gumming up the works in my bathroom's exhaust fan...

Actually, I was kidding clever, sorry!

I think my Mom used to use baking soda and vinegar though to clean drains. It won't necessarily clear a clog but used once a month or so, it'll keep the drain clear and remove any foul odors.
a small handful of baking soda and a cup of vinegar. let it sit for about 20 minutes or so. It will foam up, but not explode.
And just a little reminder, never, never mix ammonia and bleach. It creates dangerous fumes that can render you unconscious.

Freshmaker, INDEED!

Thank GOD you replied to this, Yoss. I was about 50/50 whether you were being facetious or whether you actually DID do this. And to think I nearly bought the economy size pack of Mentos today -- we've got a tub clog the size of a chinchilla up in here. I can only imagine explaining my sugary, dripping exhaust fan to an electrician...
I do remember the vinegar and baking soda trick from middle school science class; thanks for reminding me of awkward times (I mean, more awkward times than the present times)

Clever, one word... "Drano Max" (ok, ok, two words) that stuff is fantastic! Pour it in, wait half an hour, and Voila! cleared drain! Assuming the clog is in the J trap and not somewhere further down the line.

Mentos and soda = entertainment, not unclogged pimps, errr pipes.
So far as I know.

This works.
1- Bubble gum or chewing gum out of the kids hair. Put peanut butter on the gum and it come right out.
2- Cleaning you cars glass or bumper after you remove a sticker. Use WD40. It takes that gummy stuff off the glass or bumper.
3- Keeping spiders from makeing cob webs in the corners of you rooms along the floors.
Place a walnut on a small plate or pan. The fumes from the walnut will keep them from making webs.

This never works! Urban legend, as far I'm concerned. Unless, maybe, you got really short hair. Just makes a bigger mess if you really want to know.

Then what do you do with the squirrels that the nuts attract?
(squirrels and nuts, could there be any better set up for a response from some smart azz, than that?) lmao

That's the wildest thing I've heard in a long time. Who figured this out? Would this be a walnut in the shell, or would sprinkling a few walnut halves out of the bag in my pantry that I use for chocolate chip cookies work as well? English or Black Walnut?
And what's the best method for cleaning up the dog barf that I'd have on my carpet once the pooch discovers my carefully positioned walnuts and has hisself a little buffet?

(Don't tell me to try mentos and diet coke, Yoss, you jokester, you!
