You know the best Halloween movie is always a tie between Halloween and The Exorcist. Anyone got any other favorites? What's the scariest/grossest/weirdest?

The grossest I can remember right now is Wizard of Gore. I had heard Crispin Glover was involved in an updated remake, but haven't been following it's progress.

The weirdest? Probably Naked Lunch, but I'm not so sure it's considered a horror movie. That was some goofy, weird chit.

Ummm, scary...The Ring scared the crap outta me. As did the original version of The Grudge. OMG what was that asian movie with the gimp in the bag? ph34r.gif Audition, maybe?

Feast was fun and I loved The Descent. 70's and 80's horror is pretty great too. I'm lost on some of the classics though like Nosferatu. It had some great parts, but overall I just wasn't into it. Netflix automatically assigned Nos as my avatar though. Heh.

Ditto on Darko! One of my all time favorite movies. It's a bit of a mind-f*ck so I can watch it over and over again.

About 15 years ago I watched a movie called "Prince of Darkness" which scared the bejeezus out of me. I think about it and still get the willies. Haven't seen it since then, so I don't know if the gory special effects would look realistic now, but it was seriously super-scary (and I was a grown up when I saw it).

Here's the link at imdb:

I forgot that it was a John Carpenter movie. And it has zombies, Heather! biggrin.gif

These might not be the scariest, but they are among my favorites.

Dawn of the Dead

My Bloody Valentine

The Funhouse

Friday the 13th
dirkthedaring
Wierdest movies...anything by Troma entertainment.

The Toxic Avenger was my fav!
peacefrog
Feast was also a fave of mine, as was 28 Days Later... if you call that horror.

I admit that Witchboard scared me when I was a kid. biggrin.gif

Evil Dead 2! Now that's a movie that rocks. And Army of Darkness isn't too shabby, either.

Amityville Horror gets a nod because of Ryan, of course. wink.gif

I like Hell Raiser, Halloween, Chainsaw Masacure, Friday the 13th.
I like to many horror movies, to name them all. Would take me all night.

lol...i still watch clips of that on Youtube!

Another more recent movie I liked was "Ravenous". I really liked the part where the cannibal runs around through the forest killing people while that cheesy music is playing.

Peacefrog...you certainly cant go wrong with any movie Bruce Campbell stared in! The Evil Dead series is great. I really like how Sam Raimi always puts Bruce in his movies, wheather its a leading role or just a cameo like in the spiderman movies.

I'm ashamed to say I don't recognize some of these movies. Funhouse? My Bloody Valentine? I thought that was a band? I'll have to check them out on Netflix. Maybe I've seen them and just don't remember.

IMDB has a high ranking score for Bruce' Campbell's movie about himself, (as an actor), being mistaken for Ash, (his character), and having to fight monsters, but unfortunately Netflix doesn't even have the title listed yet alone the actual DVD. Has anyone seen it?

And Bubba Ho Tep looks really REALLY dumb, but a few people have said that I have to watch it. Should I bother?

Sweet! You have good taste in horror movies! biggrin.gif :high five:

Yeah, Donnie Darko is pretty great. I suggested it to my friend and she still reminds me how much it sucks on a regular basis. Anytime I talk about movies she's there with, "yeah but Heather likes Donnie Darko." All of my movie reviews are null and void now since she couldn't even finish watching DD.

I just watched a youtube video the other day that kinda made me feel ill. This cartoon guy was prying his own fingernails off and sticking a blade underneath his fingernails and cutting his own lips off. All to the tune of a Korn song. cool.gif

Oh, I forgot entirely about Bubba Ho Tep!!! Shame on me! That is a GREAT movie. My husband rented it and I picked on him so bad, how could he possibly have rented something that sounded so lame -- but then I was very pleasantly surprised by how good it was. Bruce Campbell is such an underrated actor. He really should've caught on as more than a cult favorite. Rent it, Heather -- based on some of the other things you've said you like, I would be pretty surprised if you said you didn't enjoy it.

And seriously, Donnie Darko is one of my all-time favorite movies. It's kind of a thinking man's Halloween movie...and it DOES offer some good Halloween costume ideas (Frank the rabbit, Hulk Hogan, or you could attach a long piece of flexible plastic tubing to your chest, cut a hole in your t-shirt for it to stick out of, put on a gray hoodie, and go as Donnie himself!)

Probably. I tried clicking the link but the video won't load. It was that song though.

Check out this trailer for Black Sheep, "the violence of the lambs." Let's do a meet and great with this movie + alcoholic beverages. biggrin.gif
