If you were gonna buy a new Honda, Kawasaki, or Suzuki motorcycle in the tri-state area, where would you go to buy it? What dealers give good, fair deals and good service?
peacefrog
Stay away from Twiggs in H-town... far, far away. You can go there to browse, but don't buy. I've had experiences with the owner, and I would NEVER do business with him.

Hubby--who used to race motorcycles--says that you're just as likely to get a good deal at one place than another. He says your best bet is to handle it like car shopping. Research, browse, and then pit dealers against each other and find out who will give you the best deal.

Ha it works...done that with twiggs and JT motorsports

I would have to agree I think Twiggs is a joke and a bunch of arrogant SOB's. I had good luck at Ryderville in Berkley Springs.

Well, this is part of my research. I've had one person I know who bought a bike this year brag-up Twiggs. But I wanted to see if I can get a concensus out of lots of people.

no twiggs. every time we've had to have maintenace or service done there its been some huge ordeal... and their customer service is nothing to brag about.

How about motorcycle mechanics? For, say, a Suzuki or Kawasaki. Who is good?
SMan
It's been a few years since I had a bike, but I used that guy in Funkstown (across from the Legion) a few times. He did good work and the prices were reasonable. The downside was he was very slow getting stuff done.

I've used the guy in Funkstown also good work and good price but he does get very busy.

Haven't had any service done yet on mine. I bought my motorcycle at Ryderville in Berkley. The staff was great and very helpful. Unlike Twigg who when I asked a question about the one I was thinking of purchasing, told me I could look it up in the owners manual. Funny thing is you have to buy the manual. They wanted me to buy a manual to answer a question for a bike I wasn't even sure I wanted.

Needless to say that is the last time I went into Twigg. Ryderville has better customer service and got me on a better motorcylce for 1500 less than Twigg.

Well...live and learn. I took my bike in to Twigg for some serivce -- 2 items needed done, one of which I felt a dealer would be better at because it was kinda unusual and an independent may have never seen it before.

Big mistake.

They tried to charge me $50 more than my written quote for the one item, and never ordered the parts needed to do the other item. And that was supposedly MY fault, because, according to the service writer, I spoke with the Service Manager to make the appointment and "it's not like he's a tech so he wouldn't know it needed that part". blink.gif The Service Manager gave a different story, and acted like a real pompous jerk, so I left. Hopefully never to return.

Their quotes were pretty high to begin with, but I thought I was paying extra for a dealer's expertise. Yeah, I wish...

Come on Snoopy didn't you see the advice here. The people at Twiggs are a bunch of F'in A-holes.

It's funny how some things apparently never change. I don't have any recent experience with Twiggs, but when I was much younger I did. My brothers were into motorcycles and I was into bicycles. Unfortunately in those days, there was basically one motorcycle shop and one bicycle shop in town. The Twiggs ran both of these. The father ran the motorcycle shop and the son ran the bicycle shop. My brothers couldn't say anything good about the father's shop - they were absolute crooks. My experience with the bike shop was no different. The Twigg who owned the bike shop was such a liar it was unbelievable. He had the Schwinn dealership in this area at the time (and Schwinn was really classy back then), and I believe that Schwinn had received so many complaints about this guy that they ended up taking the dealership away from him. That was something that just didn't happen very often.

Bottom line is that I would NEVER trust anyone in that Twigg family in any endeavor that they are in.

What would you expect from a kid who took over the business and fired his parents. Don is the only one who knew the most about motor cycles and he got fired. Don I would trust.

I know someone that took an ATV to Twigg to get it worked on. They told him they were real busy and it would be weeks until it got done. hehe he went through the door into the service area and it was empty. One lone guy turning a wrench and everybody else goofing off. They freaked and told him he was not allowed back there. Nice place to look maybe. I recommend Moto-Tricks on Jefferson Blvd. Its a converted milking parlor/barn. Competent mechanics and super real deals on parts and labor.
