Five charged in attempted armed robbery at Hagerstown Taco Bell

Five people were arrested and charged after an attempted armed robbery outside the Taco Bell on Maugans Avenue on Wednesday, police said.

Maryland State Police said two employees — one male, one female — were waiting in the parking lot for a ride at about 12:30 a.m., after the restaurant closed.

Four people who said they had a gun approached the employees and demanded the restaurant’s “money bag,” police said.

When the employees said they didn’t have the bag, someone used a rock to assault the male employee, police said. His wallet and the female employee’s purse were taken.

The female employee ran across the street to a gas station, where employees called police.

Police said they were given a description of the robbers’ vehicle, which left on southbound Interstate 81.

Troopers said they caught the robbers, who still had the female victim’s purse.

Police said charges against the following people include conspiracy to commit robbery, armed robbery, first degree-assault, second-degree assault and theft:

· Melissa Lynn Breeden, 18, of 3430 Williamsport Pike, Martinsburg, W.Va.

· Daniel Patrick Weedon, 18, also of 3430 Williamsport Pike, Martinsburg,

· Harry Franklin Minnick, 18, of 21405 Mount Aetna Road, Hagerstown

Police said two 17-year-olds — one from Hagerstown and one from Philadelphia — will be charged as adults, too, but did not give their names.

Weedon also was charged with possession of heroin.

rolleyes.gif ph34r.gif Drug traffickers or punks stopping off from the interstate exit. The exits off the interstates make for a convenient stop. It would be a quick buck. Just speculating, who knows.

Agree: dumb move, all that potential danger over a Taco Bell heist. Those poor employees, probably someone's kid and/or a senior citizen working a part time job.

Who knows?

My little brother robbed the Dominos in Hagerstown a few years back, and that place is SEE THRU GLASS and a couple blocks from the cop shop. Can you spell STOOPID?

He's a "guest of the state" at this point, hope Bubba pounds some sense into him.
